Rally Planned Against Raids Of Illegal Immigrants
CBS affiliate, Chicago ^ | Apr 20 2006 | Sylvia Gomez

Posted on 04/20/2006 10:59:23 AM PDT by george wythe

Protesters are gathering to rally against a new round of raids on undocumented immigrants.

Numerous raids have left Chicago families without their loved ones, and this morning the government is talking about its new policy.

[snip]

But illegal immigrant advocates are calling this action and crackdown immoral and they are outraged. They are planning a protest outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) headquarters and another protest is planned this afternoon.

They are asking immigration officials to halt action until Congress comes up with its new laws because it might allow some immigrants to remain in the U.S.

Pay them $150.00 for every day worked in session.

That sounds like a lot of money for just sitting around and talking, but if they get it right, I guess it's OK. LOL!

Our nation's communities cannot be a wild frontier where illegal aliens and unscrupulous employers subvert our nation’s laws," said Assistant ICE Secretary Julie Meyers.

UIC sucks!

Every time they march and demand their "rights", it wakes up more Americans to the problems we are facing if the immigration laws are not enforced, and America is getting angry!

The President has had five years to think about this problem, Americans have been demanding action, yet he still refuses to listen to us.

Many of those same immigrants were released just hours later

Well, it's REALLY hard to believe our sorry government is serious about enforcing our LAWS when they "catch and release." More of the same old BS from the Bush administration!

Excellent!  They weren't' supposed to be here in the first place.

Correct. These are phony raids designed to make the Feds look like they're finally going to enforce the laws on the books. It's a lie of course. These raids make the bills in Congress look good. That enforcement is here already so pass the massive amnesties.

Pass them and be assured they will be accompanied by enforcement. All a lie of course

You know, it's a terrible waste of breath to continue a discussion with someone who is intentionally missing the point of what I am saying, or is so politically naive as to not understand. Last try. The effect on Congress (specifically the Senate where the bill is up for a vote), is to show how "tough" Bush is starting to get on the illegal alien problem, even though this raid is all show and no go. The recess is almost over, which you choose to intentionally ignore, and Congress is about to reconvene to once again bring up the immigration bill. The timing of this raid is to influence the vote in the Senate that Bush is really going to crack down on illegal immigration, and it is all a sham. Now, if you are incapable of figuring this out, or, as I see it, don't want to figure this out, then no one can help your politically ignorant self. The rest of the intelligent people on this thread HAVE figured it out. You stand pretty much alone in thinking these raids were not a political move. So be it.

I have been reading Marine Inspector's traffic since he arrived here, and I think you are being unfair to him. He is a dedicated, intelligent, patriotic public servant, and if there were more like him this country would be much closer to the dream the founders fought and died to give us.

I have no doubt whatsoever that he could make a lot more money working in the private sector, which, to me at least, underscores his service to our country.

I do, however think there may be something of an awkward "coincidence" involved in the timing of this bust -- but not the one I've seen raised by several posters.

There was a major event that occurred a few days ago, which I believe may very well have some bearing on this situation.

Karl Rove's role in the adminstration has recently changed, He was reassigned from being in charge of POLICY.

Now, we've got Rove gone, and the "new broom sweeps clean" principle is already visibly at work. For example, consider McClellan's brink-of-tears mini-speech where he announced his "decision" to "resign".

With that in mind, REconsider the timing of this event -- in light of the removal of Karl Rove from his role as Policy chief.

I'd be really surprised if, shortly after "the new guy" took over, the proverbial "fly on the wall" didn't hear something like, "A lot of things have got to change -- and they've got to start changing NOW!" I'd also be surprised if "the fly" didn't also hear "the new guy" dashing off a series of memos to the heads of all agencies demanding to know what was "in the hopper" that could be "tweaked for effect" ASAP.

I did a quick google query to refresh my memory -- Joshua Bolten's name had slipped my mind (I've got some fairly heavy "real life" stuff going on at the moment).

My search returned this little tidbit, which sums up ("IMO") the rationale behind the Rove Role Reassignment:

Excerpt from Rove's Loss:
In retrospect, the perils of merging politics and policy seem clear. Rove-directed policies have contributed to a deeply unpopular presidency, increasingly accused of being not only divisive but incompetent.

Disregard the author's politics; the above is the sentiment "in the hustings", and that is what gets addressed, in a "realpolitik-aware environment."

And it is obvious to all (except apparently K. Rove) that the massive influx of criminal aliens from Mexico is front and center in terms of stuff that has "the hustings" gritting their teeth.

The instant I heard the news about "the massive bust", the very first thing that entered my mind was, "Well, well, well, Rove's gone, and already they're trying to show that they do care about this issue!" After months and months... years actually, of "looking the other way" as employers went wild, hiring millions of criminal aliens, it seemed like... it seemed like policy, to "look the other way." And I think it obvious that it was policy.

Would this bust, even though in planning for many months, have been allowed to come to fruition if Rove was still at the helm? I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the answer was "no" -- or, perhaps a "modified no", i.e., something like, "Issue a warning, followed up by... nothing. And then consider the investigation resolved. 'Violator has been warned to address the situation. Case closed.'"

That, from all evidence to date that I've seen, seems to have been the old realpolitik. And it hasn't paid off, other than in terms of lobbybucks, from what I gather.

The big question is whether this is a "wag the dog" type showpiece, or, the opening act of a new policy directive. Only time will tell. Time, and their actions.

I must say that the reports of criminals arrested in this bust having been summarily released is not particularly encouraging. Not in the least.

Wow, timing is everything!

I should have paused for thirty seconds before sending that last post.

I'm watching a replay of Cavuto -- he's got Juile Meyers on (thirtybopper "Homeland Security Assistant Secretary") on.

She just said that the company had been sent numerous warnings!

Surreal...

This ("to me at least") confirms the curious timing issue. Rove is no longer in charge of Policy, and then *wham*, the company is no longer getting "warnings", but is getting busted.

Now, I'm a cynical guy -- but I don't think it takes cynicism to consider the possibility that the "warnings" would have gone on interminably had not the "policy" changed. And likewise I don't think it takes a cynic to think it likely that "the bust" would have been blocked, by hook or by crook, under the old "policy."

I'm going to put my tin foil hat on, so I can think like a conspiracy theorist.

Lets say ICE was going to do this raid 2 months ago or even 2 months into the future and Chertoff said no, you have to do it while Congress is in recess. What exactly is the effect of this raid going to have on Congress?

Do you think this will get more votes for a guest worker program?

If so, how?

I don't think Congress was the intended audience.

I think we -- the voters -- are the intended audience. There are many voters, who are so frustrated, feeling so hopeless and powerless, that they nave been increasingly talking of revolt on election day. There have been massive numbers of people so fed up that they're talking about boycotting the elections.

They are asking immigration officials to halt action until Congress comes up with its new laws because it might allow some immigrants to remain in the U.S.

They are NOT "immigrants"!

They are criminal aliens!

Calling criminal aliens "immigrants" is like calling burglars "house guests." It's like calling rapists "undocumented lovers."

The propagandists have really done their work on this one, argh!

There is NO problem with "allowing immigrants to remain in the country"!

That's what immigration is all about!

NO ONE is bitching about immigrants!

This is so damn surreal...

This is what happened to the ilelgals:

1. The Mexican illegals that refused to testify in court against the executives were removed to Mexico, and yes, some went back to Mexico, contrary to what the MSM is reporting.

2. The Mexican illegals that agreed to testify in court (they were most likely promised resident alien cards) were paroled into the US and allowed to legally work until the court date.

3. The non-Mexican illegals that refused to testify in court against the executives were removed either detained for removal or, if detention was not possible, paroled into the US until their deportation hearing. This is called due process. Yes, they may not show up for that hearing, but next time they get caught it's a felony and they sit in jail until a deportation hearing.

4. The non-Mexican illegals that agreed to testify in court (they were most likely promised resident alien cards) were paroled into the US and allowed to legally work until the court date.

This sounds more comforting than the reports of "catch and release" style "for-show" arrests -- but, I find #3 to be more than a little bit troubling. The idea of releasing highly probable flight-risks on their own recognizance is just plain braindead.

We can't deport non-Mexicans to Mexico
Why not?

I mean, after all that Mexico has done for us, I think the very least we can do is to demonstrate a measure of reciprocity.

HOW many thousands of "Other Than Mexican" criminal aliens have crossed into our country from Mexico?

Give 'em back. Give 'em all back.

Let Lord Fox deal with the problem of "unwanted aliens" in his country!

What scares me the most is a mass of uneducated socialists--voting. If you could promise me a sealed border, a reformed temporary visa program, and illegals never getting a 'right to vote'...then I would feel a little at ease.

Never happen.

It's like telling rapists that they can go out and commit rape, but, they have to wear chastity belts.

The whole point of allowing these millions of criminal aliens to enter the country is so that they will vote. That, and to provide the meatpower for the "New Coolie Economy." It's a winning combo -- something for everyone. The Coolies get to work for peanuts (as opposed to working for peanut husks back home), Mexico gets rid of their unwanted underclass (a "bloodless ethnic cleansing"), the Robber Baron employers get an el-cheapo Coolie Workforce, and Our Glorious Leaders get voters they can throw our dollars at, in an effort to win their illegal votes.

Hmm... Upon reflection, I guess it's not actually a "win-win" for everyone. There's one "faction" for whom it's a major loss.

That would be the hundreds of millions of Americans who take it on the chin, pay for the entire scam, and, also get to lose the very underpinnings that define their country.

Of course, luckily for the criminal invaders, the nation of Mexico, the Robber Baron employers, and Our Glorious Leaders, WE don't have a VOICE!

Oh, wait, stop the presses~ I was wrong after all!

Turns out that we do benefit from the destruction of our nation, our neighborhoods, and our way of life.

We get to save five cents on the price of a head of lettuce, when it's harvested by criminal aliens instead of Americans who'd need to be paid a legal wage.

There, don't you feel better already?
