Excellent!

If more of your biker breathren followed your example, we'd see a lot less of those 2-wheeled road tragedies.

Hey, and your jacket still looks cool!

""""Also it might help if you picked roads with shoulders and remember you are going 45 miles slower than those you are competing for space on the highway with."""""

Huh?
Are you talking about bicycles?

Slamming, pinning, and crushing the Americans that Americans are unwilling to slam, pin, and crush.

I guess everyone has their style. And thats cool but is also inviting trouble. I rigged a small strobe on top of my headlight that activates with a momentary button on the handlebars. It is a very bright strobe and instantly gets the attention of anyone about to make a left turn.

The only time I ever go without helmet is at a bike rally. That is riding no more than 15 mph in a thick mass of bikes.

At the track...

Can the family of the victim sue the Fed Govt for wrongful death or something like that in a civil court? It is the Govt's fault after all.

When I'm dealing with cagers, I don't care if they showed up yesterday or came over on the Mayflower... They can all kill you.

That being said, illegals seem to be over-represented in fatal crashes, or maybe it just makes the news more often.

Probably so. The news says "oh and he was an illegal immigrant". That stays with you.

But you are right. The numbers do seem a little more than per capita percentages.

Exactly, but let's get past the immigrant point for a second and talk about the crash.

Oh, yes, let's just ignore the immigrant point. Wouldn't that be nice? It's all about proper bicycle safety. Move along.

Read the article before you chime in.

You said "bike" in your post. EXCUSE MEEEE! You still avoid the immigrant issue. Every death caused by an illegal immigrant is a preventable death.

You are right, black leather is just for show. To convey a fake badass biker image. I choose to earn my own reputation rather than pay for a fake image like everyone else.

Glad to see that you haven't lost your ability to completely piss me off in one paragraph or less. Yeah, I've been wearing black leather all of these years because I'm really a wimp and I'm trying to put on airs....yeah, that's the ticket.

Hello Melas,
So nice to hear from you!
I see you haven't lost your ability spit out typical Harley owner's cliches and belittle all that is better and safer to vindicate your obsession that is The Church of Harley Davidson without any real substance beside the mere cliches that are so rampant among your herd.

Which Power Ranger is that exactly? :)

I see the icon, so I am taking that as a joke.
Good one.
I have never heard that one before.

I can go on and on about that suit. How it is a factory suit that was given to me.
You know why it was given to me?

Because somewhere, someone had enough confidence in let me ride their bike and someone behind them had some money and someone even further behind them had an interest. And they said, "Hey, let me get in on this. I gotta cool suit in it for ya."

So I said OK. I'll wear the suit.
It ain't your run-of-the-mill "Power Ranger" suit. Its factory spec. I don't expect anyone who follows the herd to know what that means but I will tell you that it means that it is a far cry from some black leather jacket, made in Korea, perfectly matched to the cheap, outdated machines that posiers worship. It is stat-of-the-art protection worn by a state-of-the-art rider on a state-of-the-art motorcycle. When I see a black leather jacket, I see James Dean. I see Marlin Brando. I see the same jacket that has been around since the 50's that fits perfectly with the bike they ride on.
I see an admission fee into the flock.
The elbow pads on my suit have more technology incorporated into them than your entire motorcycle.(yes, I scrape my elbows from time to time)That's because sometimes I lean past my knees. THAT'S WHAT HIGH END SPEC BIKES ALLOW ME TO DO.

But only on the track, of course.

I enjoy talking with you, Melas. You are older than me therefore I restrain myself and try to show a little respect. But motorcycles (and astrophysics) is not a subject where you want to confront me.

Dude, you still just don't get it. I don't worship at the Church of Harley Davidson. I like (almost) all motorcycles. I just choose to ride a Harley because it's the best fit to me both ergonomically and ride style. And, I'm so uncool these days that I wear a helmet.

I see the icon, so I am taking that as a joke. Good one. I have never heard that one before.

Yep, it was a joke. Granted, it was inspired by your previous slam again my attire, "You are right, black leather is just for show. To convey a fake badass biker image. As usual, you started with the insults and I just felt the stupid need to stand up for myself and others like me.

See, what you don't get is that I like sport bikes and those who ride them. I'm the first to oooh and aaaah when they wheelie for the length of a track or do a 50 yard stoppie. I have nothing but respect for that kind of performance, and nothing but admiration for the guys that can pull that off.

I don't do those stunts or ride fast. That's not my thing. That doesn't mean anything is wrong with my bike. It's transportation, and elegant transportation at that. I like riding my motorcycle to work. It's cool, and I ENJOY it. That's supposedly what it's all about.

I like to look at Corvettes from time to time, but really, I have no use for a Corvette. I don't drive that fast, and they don't make a bicycle rack for it. Yet Corvette drivers don't sit around with chips on their shoulders making one rude comment after another about Volkswagen drivers. Why you feel the stupid need to endlessly engage in this behavior about Harleys and bikers in general I just don't understand. Make no mistake, you tossed out the bait, and I ignorantly rose to the hook again. I don't know why I keep expecting better behavior from your quarter, I just do.

I enjoy talking with you, Melas. You are older than me therefore I restrain myself and try to show a little respect. But motorcycles (and astrophysics) is not a subject where you want to confront me.

Oh balderdash. I understand all about performance. I'm an avid mountain biker, and I mean avid. I ride a $3500 mountain bike that's all about performance. It's a remarkable piece of engineering with 5 inches of air-sprung travel front back, a HAND BUILT exotic alloy aluminum frame that's both biased and butted, carbon fiber in strategic places, titanium cogs on the cassette and more. The wheels alone are nearly a grand. It's all about performance.

However, it would absolutely suck for the guy who wants a bicycle to ride around the neighborhood for exercise. All the technology would be misplaced, unused and in some ways it would actually work against the poor guy.

See, that's where I am with motorcycles. I want a motorcycle that will carry me in an ergonomic position back and forth to work at legal speed limits. I want a motorcycle that will carry me and my tour pack to Colorado in June, and carry me back again. Nowhere in there is a need to scrape my knees or elbows.
