Dozens of illegal immigrants arrested, released in hours

Have been emailing my Congressman and Senator on a regular basis about the illegals issue.

Congressman Mike Sodrel, 9th District, Indiana has addressed my concerns about this issue and we are in agreement. He has my support in this election.

Senator Lugar has not addressed my concerns at all. Have emailed and faxed his office many times and there has been no reply from them. Could be that he has this election sewn up and doesn't need my support this time. Still time for him to vote the right way on the immigration issue so we shall see what happens. Dismissing the concerns of a member of the county Republican Committee, who has always supported and campaigned for him, is not a wise decision on his part or his staff.

Federal agents on Wednesday arrested seven current and former managers of IFCO Systems, a manufacturer of crates and pallets, on criminal charges, and more than 1,100 people were arrested on administrative immigration charges at more than 40 IFCO sites in the U.S.

Only SEVEN? Geez, at that rate we'll soon be given our allegiance to the United States of Aztlan. They really need to start cracking down on American employees who hire illegal workers.

Oh that is too harsh. I say deport them to the southern most tip of Brazil so it will take them a long time to get back here - say a week. ;^)

You are making several big assumptions:

1) no one (or some very small quantity) is admitting they snuck across the border,

2) there is no way that anyone can prove they lived in this country (via receipts, remembrance of addresses, places of birth, etc.) that could be used before adjudication.

I would think there's adjudication if there's a dispute.

But if Jose can't remember where he was born, or if there is no record online of his birth, or if there is no such address, and if he is using an invalid social security number (of a dead person say), then it's time for him to go back across the border.

And then, what about the illegal aliens that are visa overstayers -- why are they in this country? Your answer does not address this issue.

You must want them to stay here. Why do THEY get to set immigration policy. WHY CAN'T AMERICANS DETERMINE IT'S IMMIGRATION POLICY.

OK, but then exactly what is a leader for? We don't need a leader to state the obvious: "we've got an oil additiction", "we've got an illegal immigration problem". What we need are some proposed solutions, and some leadership to get problems solved or at least help create the conditions to solve problems. The last two years are starting to sound like the years of Carter's "malaise", a disease that was cured by Reagan, an actual leader.

With leadership what we presently have and no excuse for it (having control of the house and senate), the GOP is going to get spanked very, very hard this year - Osama's head on a pike or not.

I was calling a married friend one day. His answering machine came on, so I started goofin'. Using a sing-song Pakistani type of accent, I told him that I was Dr. Bogus Pachysandra from the Cleveland Free Sex Clinic, and that, on no account, should he touch that thing, or let anyone else touch that thing. Luckily for me, his wife got the message before he did. They argued for a while, the realized it was me, and laughed for quite a while longer. So,,,,I still use it!

We did something like that back many years ago. I worked as a bartender in a pretty hot club. The owner was the most married guy you could ever think of. One of the other bartenders was a real ladies man and had a stable of girlfriends all the time.

One night he had a key to a no-tell-motel and we put it in the bosses coat pocket before he left for dinner with the family. We waited until we were sure he was home and eating then called and asked his wife to look in his coat pocket to see if he took the keys to the beer room home with him.

Well, all hell broke lose. The 5 of us who were in on it, had to go to his house after work and apologize for the joke. It took us almost 15 minutes to convince her it was just a joke. When we did, she laughed and thought it was funny. Our boss never did think it was funny.

They didn't set up the policies our Government did and no I don't want them to stay. They are defendants and are afforded the same presumptions of innocence as anyone in America. There is adjudication before deportation but it's not as quick as I or anyone else would like it and that's where the congress plays the role of creating laws to expedite the process. Uncontested is minimum 72 hours, contested is sometimes 3 months.

The Executive is actually the weakest of the 3 branches when it comes to initiating things and designed that way but the congress has the right to create laws that will benefit the people but they have failed more by not getting it done where the President can really only mouth off what he wants done.
