I speak regularly with dedicated men and women who work for the Department of Homeland Security, and especially agents from across the country who work for the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
I can tell you based on my reporting over the last five years that the Bush administration's belated efforts to look tough on immigration enforcement at worksites amount to a cynical, politically timed effort to salvage the White House's guest worker program dreams and schemes. I'm referring to this story linked prominently today on Drudge and spread elsewhere:

Good afternoon.
"Until some personnel managers and COOs/CEOs get jail time PLUS BIG PERSONAL FINES, nothing will change."
So, are you telling me that after Skilling and Lay go to prison the CEOs and CFOs will see the light and become honest businessmen?
Maybe. I think crooks will allways be crooks and we can only punish the ones we catch.

I suggest you take a good, long, hard look at just how much this Administration has done to keep you and your family safe.
I have. I live in S. Cal. and the crime statistics here from illegals is appalling!

Seriously, that quote, especially paraphrases, isn't well enough known to be posted without comment, I think. Before your time I guess, I should have noticed. It was whipped to death on this forum.
The point was that impeachment is always political, the courts have no say. As you may have noticed every Senator had to take a new oath to set on the impeachment panel, then blithely went and broke it the next day.

I don't know who you think you are, but I know you don't speak for conservatives. Well, it's for sure you don't.

Michelle Malkin wrote this article before finding out that this was a catch-and-release bust.
The illegals were let go hours after the raid.
Malkin's common sense was right on the money

I voted twice for Dubya, but finding out I was a vigilante did give
pause to wonder why.
And yes, the guvmint has done a good job of squelching terrorist activities here.
They'd probably have gotten the same result with a lot less effort,
if they'd really closed the borders to legal traffic only.

You know, I am incredibly naive. I thought this raid was a good thing (they arrested 60 people in Indianapolis) and I was especially glad to see officers of the company arrested.
But NOOOO, this isn't good enough. It is apparently being perceived as a fraud and the anti-Bush people are still griping.
I am listening to Simcox grandstanding on Fox right now. Who in the heck is he to be giving ultimatums? And if they can raise the money for a security fence, then go ahead and do it and help the federal budget out.
I am to the point that I can't tolerate this discussion. When Bush does what they want, it's still not good enough, because it's "politically motivated" and he "really doesn't want to do it."
Pfui. I think most of these people already hated Bush and just latched onto immigration as a convenient platform.

So you think one's only purpose in life is to look up explanations for taglines? I don't keep track of other freepers unlike some here on these boards.

They'd probably have gotten the same result with a lot less effort, Not a chance. The war on terror cannot be won by adopting defensive measures. Sure, they help, but it's mostly just feel-good political posturing and making the bad guys move down the road to an easier target.
The vigilante comment was stupid. I don't know what he was thinking there. But I'm not dismissing all the incredible work this Administration has accomplished in strengthening/securing a nation because of some tunnel-vision temper tantrums (not referring to you).

Pfui. I think most of these people already hated Bush and just latched onto immigration as a convenient platform. Yep. And many of them come to this forum for the sole purpose of bashing him, before scurrying back to their little dens complaining of mean ol' Bushbots. But at least this mean ol' slash-n-burn Bushbot has the guts to ping folks I'm mocking. Ain't that right, Hootie?
