The Shahnameh is fairly descriptive of battles fought by Persians against their enemies, and makes reference to Indian, Chinese, Arab, Turk, and even Greek warriors. As often as not the heads were separated from the bodies during battle. They hacked away as energetically as any of Arthur's Roundtable Knights.
