These vet may have seen enough great out doors overseas and in training. My father inlaw thougt my wife was crazy to want to go backpacking.
Actually, we had a wounded warrior attend an outdoor writer's meeting with us last weekend. He hadn't fished in years, and caught fish like crazy.
He was definitely "Hooked."
Got word today he will be fishing a huge fishing tournament with a contact he made during the meeting -- heck, he already has sponsors.
Most of the men and women we are dealing with are from ages 19-28, and some fished, hunted, camped, etc., before their injuries, but many have never been exposed to those activities. The WWP has provided skiing trips, and is holding a huge cycling event next week, where these vets will be cycling across America.
You'll no doubt see some of these events on TV and in the national media soon.
I think it is a great honor to work with these heros. Since I love fishing, the thing I would enjoy most after having been involved in such a stressful event as war would be fishing.
