I commend both the book "April Morning" [Howard Fast] and the spin-off TV Movie for a brief excursion into this event. While not high literature or immortal TV, I have re-read the book recently and recall the movie fondly (Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Urich and Chad Lowe). I'd rather have an adolescent read or see this to many of the Jr and Sr High School texts that I have seen.

April 19th was also known as "Militia Day" only a mere few years ago before they became ostracized by media hysteria.

Many a small town around here had a "call to arms" ceremony in the town square.
