We are a day away from the anniversary of Der Fuhrer's birth that anti-semites will celebrate the world over. In particular, one of the aspects of whitwashing Hitler's deeds is to deny the Holocaust. As Burt Prelutsky points out, to have a debate on the Holocaust is to grant legitimacy and undeserved credence to the insanity of a bunch of lunatics. You might as well accept one-earthers and those who think the moon is made of cheese as being intellectually knowledgeable instead of the crackpots they are are. You'd have to stipulate to being a yutz if you agree with an anti-semite all the evidence that established the historicity of the Holocaust is nonsense - its in the same league as concurring with the notion the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. To hold a debate with the insane is to suggest there's something to their view of the world and when it comes to the Jews, millions of people held such a view barely a generation ago with murderous consequences. When you get right down to it, the true meaning of Holocaust denial is to make anti-semitism respectable again so one can finish the job Hitler started. Which is what folks like David Irving and Mahmoud Ahmedinejad have their hearts set on. So if you're going to agree with these people no evil was ever done to the Jews of Europe in World War II, you're also a member in good standing with Lunatics Anonymous.

Having lived through a former husband who was a certified paranoid schizophrenic, I can certainly appreciate the logic of not arguing with these people. They just do not live in the same reality as everyone else on the planet.

Steve Martin had a song,
Talk about things you don't know about
Put a live chicken in your underwear
I don't feel any pity for the shmoe. He knew the rules and now he is reaping the rewards for his deeds.

When my dad was stationed in Germany in the late 50's (when I was still a kid), we went to a concentration camp. Even today, I still get chills down my back recalling the sensation of pure evil I felt there.
The moonbats can make whatever noise they want about concentration camps and the Holocaust - it still doesn't make them right, it just makes them moonbats.
History is filled with the pronouncements of nutjobs. We still have people who believe that the earth is flat and that Columbus didn't discover America.
Just keep passing the popcorn and consider the source - it's entertainment.

This Irving is the worst asshole but with those Poles he might be not so far from the true as some people may think.
So, who will ping the certain posters? Lets give them an oppurnity to agree with Irving! :)
