Advice On Starting A Medical Billing Business
My name is Verona and I am part owner of a successful medical billing business in NY called ACC for Physicians, Inc.. After seeing some of the questions here I thought I'd share with you some of my knowledge that will help those people that are looking to either start a medical billing business from home or are just curious about the industry.
The best advice that I can offer anyone interested in medical billing is: before you do anything connected with this business first read the book written by Paul G. Hackett called "Medical Billing Beginners Book".
The book will answer the questions that you have and the ones you didn't know you should be asking like:
1. Is this a viable field for you to get into?
2. How do you identify and avoid all the scam artists in this field?
3. What kinds of training do you need, where do you get it and how much will it cost?
4. What is the difference between a medical biller and a coder?
5. How much will it really cost you to get the business off the ground?
6. What software should you buy, which one is the best and how much you should pay?
7. What is a clearinghouse, what do they do and why should you use one?
8. Are there any licenses that I need to get to run a business in my county, city or state?
9. How do I correctly go about choosing a good business name and will it be exclusive?
10. How do you go about marketing your medical billing business?

I am interested to start the business in india as an outsourcing ageny and if you are interested then i would llove to be associated with you and as you might be knowing that outsourcing to india is a cheaper solution and together we can work on a module to suite our requirements.
