The trams are still stuck up there, 5 hours later. One car was originally just over the East River off of Manhattan, but I think it's been moved over land. The police just dropped in food and water to the tram, and are probably going to take people out by basket.

Pictures of the tram. It goes over the water from the island of Manhattan to nearby Roosevelt Island, which has some apartment buildings. It used to be the only way directly onto Roosevelt Island from Manhattan, but there's now a subway stop there. And there was always a small bridge to Queens:
This tram car is stuck over 1st Avenue
Rescuers were seen practicing using the cages that would be use to rescue the passengers

Hi All- The breathless coverage by the New York Fox5 team is hilarious! They're trying to get the people on the trams to panic and they just can't do it. My chest is hurting from all the laughing I've been doing! Priceless.

Maybe Karl Rove sabotaged both generators to get the Rummy's retired generals off the front pages?

I love going to this island. It has incredible ruins on one end of it, of an old sanitorium.
The sanitorium was used to film the end of Spiderman...it is definitely something to see, although there's a huge steel wall up that stops you from exploring the ruins.
