Sex-Mex Eva Longoria: Don't deport illegals
WorldNetDaily ^ | April 18, 2006 | WorldNetDaily.com

"Desperate Housewives" vixen Eva Longoria is stepping out of the house with her political views on immigration, saying it's "unfortunate" some American lawmakers are looking to deport illegal aliens and build a barrier on the U.S.-Mexico border.

"Mexicans contribute an enormous amount to our society, economically and socially," the Texas-born Mexican-American actress told Reuters. "I don't think this administration can afford to have things end badly."

In an interview published in Ireland Online, the actress who worked with the John Kerry presidential campaign in 2004, accepted the fact she has become a role model for the Latin community, and is looking to effect change in the lives of foreigners living below the poverty line in the U.S.

"I work a lot with the National Council of La Raza, which is the largest Latino civil rights organization in the country and I work a lot with the United Farm Workers," Longoria, 31, said. "I've been in the fields with these people and I've tried to experience a day in the life of these people. I'm producing a documentary on the labor workers."

She added: "We're in this big debate about the future of our immigration laws which is colored by the often negative media portrayals of Latinos in television and film. In the 1940s, after the Great Depression, they did a huge deportation of Mexicans and Mexican-Americans who were American citizens ... .

"Everyone has a right to be treated as a human being. There are slavery lawsuits in Florida right now against some orange growers. ... The fact that the year is 2006 and slavery's still happening is insane."

She also said, in another interview, that those calling for accountability, etc. and are against illegal imigration, are ignorant of the facts.

I really don't appreciate being called ignorant by the likes of Eva Longoria.

What part of the word "illegal" does she not get?

And who cares what Hollywood trash thinks?

Slavery is happening closer to the US than that. There was a case (still ongoing) in Colorado where a Saudi couple kept a kidnapped Indonesian woman for 4 years, sexually assaulted her, and loaned her out for chores to other people.

But THAT type of slavery does not make the national press. THAT type of rape does not lead the news every day.

No. Wage slaves who are more properly termed migrant workers (or are in thousands of dollars debt to their "coyote") are what she's referring to.

Hmm, and just what "facts" would those be?

Who is she and why should we care what she says? I was in a store yesterday and was talking with an older lady there. We were talking about "stars" who think they are more important than they really are. She and the lady with her agreed that some should just keep their mouth shut.

Daughter of illegals. Plays a slut on TV that screwed the 17 year old yard boy. What a role model. /sarcasm off.

I remember that one. You mean the Saudis didn't escape back to Saud Arabia, and they are actually going to be in the country for their trial?

Is this woman a supporter of the War on Terror, or is she with usual 95% who are complete nitwits in Hollywood?

She wasn't hired for her brains, was she? Some folks don't seem to understand the difference between a fence designed to keep people in...and a fence designed to keep people out.

She doesn't understand the difference between a slave, who was brought here and held against their will, and someone who wasn't invited and won't leave.

It Was a Dark and Stormy Night
"With a curvaceous figure that Venus would have envied, a tanned, unblemished oval face framed with lustrous thick brown hair, deep azure-blue eyes fringed with long black lashes, perfect teeth that vied for competition, and a small straight nose, she had a beauty that defied description."
