****The whole thing sounds like politics as usual to me. ****

Trust me, with this POS it was not your typical, rub my back stuff. This maggot is a life long criminal and just got caught for selling Commercial Drivers License for BRIBES (fund raising scam). One was to a MEXICAN ILLEGAL who wound up KILLING almost an entire family of seven when shit started falling of his truck.

But since the ILLEGAL couldn't speak or understand ENGLISH, he didn't know what the other truckers were yelling at him, or why. So he kept merrily driving down I-94 with parts falling off. Only the parents survived the fiery crash.

George Ryan is responsible or these deaths - period. This puke should be EXECUTED for that alone.

Oh and it came out at his trial that in his entire 30+ years in politics, he spent a whole $77.00 from his personal checking-bank account. Now in all those years that's some trick.

Thus he joins a long line of other Illinois Govs. I wonder if they have a Governor's wing in Joliet.

Actually, I think all politicans are crooks just like this dude. Maybe to be fair, I should say nearly all (there might be an honest one here and there, but danged few). I've met and known a number of politicians at all levels of government, and from several political parties. They are all snake oil salesmen and women.

Dontcha get it?! Politics is about MONEY and FAVORS, passing them around. Politics is also about keeping us peons in our place. Plain and simple.

IIRC he is Polish (or of some other eastern European origin) -- but ILLEGAL nevertheless.

Chicago is even worse, can't get rid of Daley but we can get rid of Blago!

Daley will be the next big fish to fry -- you could tell from the look in Fitzgerald's eye, and his comments to the press today after the Ryan announcement. The RATs below will start jumping ship quickly now, and the SS Daley is going down.

My guess is that he will go to jail for quite a spell - I doubt this will be a slap on the wrist...

He will be sentenced to a term that would certainly keep him in jail for as long as he lives. He ain't no spring chicken.

THEN,,,he will be pardoned or have his sentence commuted (due to ill health or some other BS) by a different crooked Illinois politician. Watch and learn....

You mean Ricardo Guzman? His legal status at the time is hard to find out now, actually never heard it brought up.

Some justice in the Land of Lincoln!

Blago-boy next, followed by Topinka. (Why not just try her before the election and get it over with?)

THIS is why I'm a fan of Patrick Fitzgerald.

And I want to give a HUGH thank you to former Senator Fitzgerald for seeing that Pat Fitzgerald was appointed to this post.

And to echo the sentiments of another poster....

Vaya con Dios Former (thank God) corrupt Gov. Ryan. I hope your cellmate is a lifer with AIDS.

I agree. Daley was praising Ryan. What does that tell you? Ryan did Daley's bidding when he was Gov. I think the Rats had the goods on him early on and he knew it. Now, Ryan is probably ready to cut a deal with the Feds and take down the Chicago Machine.

Daley is just a figurehead of that machine. He doesn't control it any more than a figurehead of a sailing vessel commands it. And, just like such a figurehead, he's dumb as a block of wood.

the Rats had the goods on him early on and he knew it. . . . When Big Jim was Gov and Ryan was Speaker of the House, Ex-US Attorney Big Jim had the goods on Speaker Ryan's extortion. Big Jim used that info to gain leverage in dealing with Ryan to get what Big Jim wanted.

Ryan sought the annointment of Big Jim to be SOS and next in line for Gov. But Big Jim feared that the MSM would not give Ryan the same pass that they had given him. So Big Jim tapped little jim to be SOS and next in line for Gov while Ryan had to settle for the consolation prize of Lt Gov and "wait his turn", first to follow little jim as SOS and then to follow little jim as Gov.

My insiders at the time were clear that Ryan's felonies while Speaker cost him his turn as Gov and allowed little jim to be annointed gov when it was not his turn.

Now, Ryan is probably ready to cut a deal with the Feds and take down the Chicago Machine. . . . George Lyan is not the type to talk. He's kept many, many secrets about others for many decades. There is honor in the combine (or fear of the Stephens-Savianno family).

Daley is just a figurehead of that machine. He doesn't control it. . . he's dumb as a block of wood. In the same way the Bush and Reagan were underestimated, the street savvy part of little richie is missed. His dad didn't teach him how to pass the bar exam. But his dad did teach him the art of plausible deniability. It will be a lot harder to bring down Daley than Ryan.
