Not another war

The latest developments in U.S. relations with Iran raise an appalling question: Could the Bush Administration be steering the country into another major, unnecessary war in the Middle East?
There are alarming reports from Washington that the White House and the Department of Defense are considering air strikes - perhaps even nuclear strikes - against Iran. These presumably would be targeted against Iran's alleged developing nuclear weapons capacity. One way to fulfill such U.S. intentions would not require the United States to carry out the strikes; it would be Israel, acting with U.S. sanction, performing the military attack. Such an action would have the same result, however - another major Middle East war involving America.

Could the Bush Administration be steering the country into another major, unnecessary war in the Middle East? Unnecessary??? A nuclear armed Iran is a disaster for world stability and the author thinks preventing that is unnecessary? The Iranian President has stated his desire to obliterate Israel and to defeat the US and the author thinks a military action to prevent this is unnecessary? Just what would this clown concede is a necessary and jusitified military action?

I would be "alarmed" if the Defense Dept. did not have plans on how to strike at Iran. The Pentagon has contingency plans for wars with many nations. Friend and foe alike.

Looks like the Iranian government has been passing around all the cash it can to buy compliance from American "newsies".
I don't see any other possible conclusion after reading this story.

Could the Bush Administration be steering the country into another major, unnecessary war in the Middle East? Let's see, Iran is being led by a complete nutcase who is trying his best to build nukes, and it is Bush who gets the blame here for "steering" us towards a war?

Sorry Toledo Blade! Yeah, it sucks being the big boy on the block but it comes with responsibilities.
This same paper would tear Israel another asshole if they attack Iran.

If God forbid Iran were to strike first and carry out a terror attack in the US I suppose this paper would be the first to scream "Bush did not act!"

This idiot/editor is in his own screwed up world. They can't see past their politics. I guess he thinks we should just sit around and do some more negotiating. I HATE cowards!
These people will be the same people bitching as we cordone off a major US city just incenerated by a terrorist nuclear device. They will be calling for investigations on how we could have let this happen.

It's amazing how many psychotics are employed on newspaper editorial staffs.

You can bet if there was a "D" in the White House, they would be banging the drums even louder for war. The NOW Gang would go on non-stop about how abusive Iranians are to women.

A lot of people at FR scoffed when I posted the opening of the No War in Iran coalition. Everyone thought that the whole thing would be ignored due to poll numbers at the time. When Chomsky speaks the main stream media takes marching order. These idiots are likely to cause a war by making us look weak for negotiations.

Oh, no, no, no Iran is only allegedly pursuing nuclear weapons. I believe the author thinks the proper thing to due is to have international and UN participation in a dialog with Iran and perhaps make sure we don't upset the stability of the region with our continued saber rattling by these out-of-control cowboys in the Bush administration.
If he is wrong and Iran obtains nuclear weapons well then so what, don't we have them? So who are we to tell Iran, an independent nation that they can't have them? They're just trying to protect their interests as we are, no more, no less. We have to stop this bullying we are not making friends this way.
Don't you agree with this enlightened approach? (sarcasm off)

Of course, if we do as the Liberals want and don't prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and they do manage to sneak one into the US, their most likely target (or targets) will be a major city. And major cities, here in the US, are predominantly Liberal. So, Liberals are willing to risk the nuclear annihilation of one or more of their political strongholds just to poke a finger in the eye of George W. Bush. Oh yes, please remember people, they are the smart ones and we're stupid.

There's a lot of loose pudding forming in the spines of Democrats... and some Republicans too on military action in Iran. The longer we sit and debate, the more confident Iran becomes in believing we'll do nothing... and the closer they get to a bomb.

The Iranians might indeed understand Mutually Assured Distruction (MAD) and that might bring comfort to some people. However, the Iranians a long time ago have learned how to utilize those who have "nothing left to lose" to do their dirty work. Imagine trying to prove to the world that a nuke exploded in Israel was traceable to Iran. If they choose to use a delivery system other than a missile or a bomber who could say for sure where the nuke came from? And even if it could be proven, would the world media choose to report it?

I have always wondered what would happen to a person who had an operation to hook up their optic nerves to their anal nerves. Now I know what happens....they become editorial writers for the Toledo Blade as they definitely have a crappy vision of the real world. I have often thought that if God were to give the world an enema, he would insert it in Toledo, appropriately so it seems!
