Hands off, then, for Islam. Don't mess with that crowd. The rest of us, by contrast, are open to cleansing and even ridicule.
Who thought this day would come, when a biblical story is consigned to the heaping Sheol of political correctness? I did, and I'll bet you did.

I saw all of 12 seconds of it, and it reminded me of a junior high school play.

...also, in this drama, Pharaoh comes off better than Moses, really....That's completely untrue. Our family just finished watching Part II tonight. We found it very moving and Dougray Scott did an excellent job, as Moses.

Watch the original with Heston - it was on Saturday night. That film leaves no doubt as to the Jews leaving Egypt, being God's chosen people. Nary a Muslim in sight!

It's a bit anachronistic to call Moses Jewish. He was an Israelite, but the term "Jews" doesn't come into use until centuries later. I'm not sure if the term (Greek Ioudaioi, Latin Judaei) arises from Judah as a tribe or Judaea as a region (the earlier kingdom of Judah)...the two groups would be largely the same, except that as a territory it would include members of the other tribes (Moses was from the tribe of Levi).

Pardon this slightly off topic question. Egyptians enslaved the Jews. Blacks insist that the ancient Egyptians were black. Do Blacks owe Jews reparations?

Finally... a politically correct multi-cultural Moses! The Left has to get around to rewriting the Bible.

I complained about that to my husband during the first night! Everything was "my people, your people, slave", but never Hebrew. I also hated how they made Moses seem like a crazy man who heard voices in his head and then went running off into the mountains and other times he was a corny cheerleader. It was a pathetic.

My kids and I watched ABC's "Ten Commandments". While it didn't come anywhere near the original, it wasn't so horribly bad and it was something clean for the kids. And, it did too mention Hebrew and Israel. The one thing I liked was thast this "Moses" seemed more "realistic" as in he showed his human"ness". But this movie, at the very beginning, did call the slaves Hebrews and Israelies from what I remember.

Is this any different from all the films about Jesus where a waspy looking goy plays Jesus?
Hollywood for years tries to dejudaize the portrayal of the Jewish scriptures.
Asa matter of fact , the only Jewish actor in the original 10 commandments was Edward G. Robinson- playing Dathan-oy

The terms, "Jew" and "Jewish" were not used until shortly before the Babylonian Exile. The inhabitants of the land of Judah were called "Jews" by others around them. More specifically, they were called by the gentilic, "Yehudi." Calling ancestors of Jews, "Jews" is the retro-projection of a term that wasn't used until much later back into the past.
To call Moses a "Jew" would have been like calling Montezuma an "American," or like calling Nebuchadnezzar an "Iraqi."

We, as a family, have been watching the 1956 version of The 10 Commandments. The new version was absolutely dreadful, colorless and clueless. The suggestion that the parting of the Red Sea was volcanic in nature was ridiculous.

Silly Mike! Moses was Muslim. Everyone in the Bible was Muslim, dontcha know that? LOL
As for this version- I hated the narration, and it was too impressionistic.
Dougray Scott is a good actor- and VERY good looking- but Moses with a British accent just didn't do it.
I think the original Ten Commandments( altho I loved Heston in it) was pretty corny. The female lead( forget her name) was really cheesy-almost campy. Brynner was imposing, but I never bought him as Rameses.
Heston's version has nothing to fear from the miniseries. Had it been approached differently, it could have been very good.
