Swann's hour of crisis By Salena Zito TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Here stands a man on the precipice of pulling off the Cinderella political story of the year. Yet, because he is woefully unprepared, he stands at risk of falling flat on his face.
And no one will remember who ran his campaign. All that will be remembered is that he lost, that he looked unprepared, that he couldn't raise money. Swann's name will carry the folly of this campaign.
Is that what he wants his legacy to be? Is that what the Republican Party had in mind?
Swann himself needs to have a come-to-Jesus moment. How badly does he want to be governor?
(Excerpt) Read more at pittsburghlive.com ...
doing a story for the weekly standard will have all of that in that story
Please, what exactly were Swann's mistakes?
(Besides going on vacation)
Salena Zito is a very credible conservative.
You just asked the question I was going to ask..
Other than mentioning a vacation that was taken, I don't read anything specific that Lynn Swann has done wrong.
Northeasterner...have you offered this advice to Lynn, in person?
Ping
Tony I listen every day on the internet through 55KRC. Great show and thanks.
i have an obligation to my editor to not reveal key parts of the story, it will be out next week, sorry
Salena is four square on the right side. She was an ardent Bush campaigner whose help and tireless efforts almost turned the blue state of Pennsylvania to red, except it was impossible to overcome the corrupt Philadelphia Rendell vote machine.
As for Tony Snow, undoubtedly a nice guy, he is now grown out of touch with the average American voter, as evidenced by his inside-the-Beltway sellout to the illegal alien lobby. Tony's friends are the people you see in the Washington insider social pages - pundits, politicians, lobbyists, union leaders, business executives, special interest factions, and the intellectually isolated theorists of the Heritage Foundation. You won't find too many drywallers or maids or carpenters in that group.
Tony expounds on illegal immigration as if the 70% or more of America who oppose this law breaking and sell out of our culture are stupid uneducated morons reeking of racism, nativism, and xenophobia. You won't see Tony doing any research at a day labor site or a Minuteman meeting - his friends are the pro-illegal immigration monolith of the Washington inner circle that sit ensconced safely in their million dollar homes in elite suburbs far removed from the illegal hordes that devalue property, increase crime, and depress wages.
People like Tony lecture the threatened middle class about illegal economics and its supposed benefits like cheaper homes and food and services. They think that they themselves are exempt from the effects of illegal immigration, like losing their high paying jobs. Just wait until these hordes reach 51% and start calling the shots. Tony's beloved market forces will be looking for Spanish speaking talk show hosts, not smug Anglos like him. Don't think so - scan the radio frequencies in LA and see how many Spanish talk shows fill the dials. Who do you think organized all those demonstrations last week - Rush Limbaugh?
Tony, when you get playback or hopefully, more stations, please blast it everywhere. I am having withdrawal pangs.
Also, let us know if there are stations we can pester to carry your show. (I'm in the DC area, and now that I can't hear your show, I have plenty of time to make a pest of myself. :-))
Tony has THE best political radio show bar none...i go through total withdrawl if i cannot hear it :)
who else has on their shows the line up he does?
Thanks....I will be looking forward to your story next week then...
I am very interested...because just like with John Thune in South Dakota...I feel that with the internet, we are able to help contribute to Congressional races from all over the USA...because, even though only Pennsylvania people will actually vote in the election (at least we hope so)...
Each election has a ramification for the rest of the country.
I heard Bill Richardson on TV this morning bragging that he is going to get a majority of Democrat Governors...so, obviously this is an "national" election.
BTW...thanks for letting us know who you are...it helps when we freepers know that we are speaking with someone that CAN help get out the message.
Tony is THE best. He's the only one I trust to get facts before opinion. And he covers the whole issue - not just the sound bite.
If I win the lottery, I will get satellite radio just for his show.
LOL
