LONDON, April 16 (IranMania) - Iranian Foreign Minister said Sunday that the ongoing violence in Iraq meant United States was not in a position to confront the Islamic republic over its disputed nuclear programme, AFP reported.
"We are trying to find a diplomatic solution for our (nuclear) problem, and the United States should be aware that it is not in a position to create another crisis in the region," Manouchehr Mottaki told the official news agency IRNA.
"More than three years has passed since the United States invaded Iraq and after all these years they are now asking for help," he said, implicitly referring to Washington's request for talks with Tehran on the insurgency.
Tensions between Iran and the United States are mounting amid Tehran's refusal to submit to a UN Security Council demand to freeze uranium enrichment work to make reactor fuel, but which can also be extended to make atomic weapons.
The United States is now pushing for tough UN action against Iran, with several US press reports also saying that military options were being looked into.
But Iran, which insists its nuclear drive is legal and peaceful, appears confident it can resist sanctions or an attack.
"You can start a war but it won't be you who finishes it," General Yahya Rahim Safavi, the head of the Revolutionary Guards and among the regime's most powerful figures, said on Friday in one of Iran's boldest statements yet.
Iran knows our President is weak!
Sure would like to see at least parts of Iran glow at night.
Codevilla - "Machiavelli taught that enemies are to be caressed or or extingusihed"
Wish Machiavlli were President.....I would even take Tony Soprano!
He's the only chance we have.
Then what in the heck is wrong with him???? Why does he screw the Base vote every chance he gets?
You make sense
Saddam Hussein also knew that he could stall Bush out of a reckoning.
then why does he tie the hands of our troops?
The on going violence in Iraq is beig fueled by IRAN.
will Bush stop it ???or wikll he listen to the MSM
In WAR politics is a sideshow. Bush realizes this. Let the Congresscritters look to their own.
The bills that the GOP controlled Congress has submitted have been a disaster full of pork and social engineering. Where is the permanent tax cut bill, social security reform and ANWAR drilling?
Does America expect to be saved by Presidential vetoes? Bush has done most of the dirty work on this war and keeping America safe from terrorists.
The base doesn't know what the base doesn't know. The base seems at times to want instant gratification for their varied pet projects.
President Bush should resume the testing of nuclear weapons. Some new underground nuclear-explosion tests, with actual warhead detonations, would send a good reminder.
Troll.
Someone up there might have shared that view: banned or suspended.
In a thermonuclear attack all that is needed is a finger and a button...woosh! Clean up delayed for 40 yrs or so to allow 1/2 life degradation to occur then new business of opening a new glass skateing rink should produce a nice profit!
Don't forget to duck Hajji!
LOL!
Thanks for letting me know my radar is still working. Some are so obvious, I can spot 'em from three threads away...lol.
