Some of us in Hollywood are genuine Christians, and we are making some real headway against the heathens.
>> Not to mention last week's article suggesting that Jesus walked on a rare ice formation on the Sea of Galilee.<<
LOLOLOL! Oh NO really?!?
Sometimes it pays to give up FR for lent.
I probably would have died laughing from that one!
May I suggest a good read?
Go to: http://www.lcms.org/graphics/assets/media/Lutheran%20Witness/WitnessApr06b.pdf
and read THE DA VINCI DISTORTION.
My apologies if my posting is bad.
Happy Easter !!!
A good many people who are near and dear to me do not wish to view this film. But they know the price that was paid.
It makes a difference living life when you know someone laid down their life for you and took it up again. In this case it was our very Maker. I say it makes a difference, but if you were to see me on the street you may not have the slightest clue I am attached to the Vine. We live by faith and not by sight.
Hollywood has a hollow notion of religion. Otherwise it would be called Holywood.
Mat 13:18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
Mat 13:19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth [it] not, then cometh the wicked [one], and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
Mat 13:20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
Mat 13:21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
Mat 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
Mat 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
Mat 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
Mat 13:26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
Mat 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
Mat 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
Mat 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
Mat 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
"We live by faith and not by sight."
I believe you've taken this out of context. It doesn't matter whether or not I recognize you as being part of the Vine; it matters that I'm not a "doubting Thomas" and believe with my heart instead of what my eyes see or don't see.
Thank you for putting up the good fight.
God Bless!
My 5 1/2 year old granddaughter is being raised without a faith community (except me). Before Lion, Witch Wardrobe came out we read several of the wonderful picture books that came out so that by the time we went to the movie together, she knew the story thoroughly including that Aslan died and came back to life. Yesterday, we were at a big family party. I did manage to have a quiet word with her and asked her why we celebrate Easter. She said, "Because I really like Easter and it's fun and I get presents." I then told her that we celebrate Easter because Aslan and also Jesus died and came back to life. She was rivited. Why Grandma, why did they have to die? How did they come back to life. So I told her that Aslan had to die because Edmond was bad and the witch was going to kill him and Aslan died in his place. Why Grandma? Because he loved Edmond. Did he love the other kids Grandma. Yes. In a very small voice (I was mixing Jesus and Aslan) Do they love me? Yes. But why do they love me? Because Jesus knows you. Aslan knows you. Her face was suffused with wonder and joy. Then my cell phone rang and it was one of my sons.. I handed the phone to my granddaughter. Uncle Charle! Jesus knows me and then went through the whole theology of it. About an hour later my other son called and it was the same story full of joy and wonder.
Happy Easter.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience and as your tagline basically says, everyday is Easter.
Well, I suppose that one could say that every day is Easter but, in fact, it really is Easter in the Catholic literagy until the Assumption. :-) That's why I can keep wearing my Easter egg earrings for another few weeks but I don't wear my Christmas sweaters after Epiphany.
My wife and I sponsor young couples through our faith initiation program in our Parish. (St. Stanislaus- Kostka)
Before they get married I love to ask them what they want most for their spouses? Generally we hear good health, security, healthy children, and loving families. All fine and good, but I usually pull the standard line from Father Caroppi, that what they should want most is to get their spouse to Heaven.
It's wonderful to be able to share the faith to those around us.
I loved your story.
The Lord is Risen!
GREAT ANSWER!
(as it should be, of course!)
Thanks, but I am merely the vessel.
