Newt Gingrich: Immig Failure Could Hand Dems Congress
Have to disagree with Newt on this one.
Immigration is NOT to the advantage of the Dems simply because they're just as split on the issue as Republicans are and have no coherent alterntative.
What, Mr. Ex-speaker, have they proposed that makes their immigration policy acceptable to most law-abiding Americans ? Haven't seen or heard any policy. All I've seen are Schumer and sHrillary in NY pandering to the illegal immigrant supporters when they rallied here in New York. That's going to win votes ?
You can't fight something with nothing. Thus far, I don't know of a single UNIFIED, COHERENT, REASONABLE immigration plan the Dems have proposed.
Newt is simply assuming that just because the GOP is doing a bad job of it, people are going to automatically assume that the Dems are going to do a good job of it.
BAD ASSUMPTION.

Newt is simply assuming that just because the GOP is doing a bad job of it, people are going to automatically assume that the Dems are going to do a good job of it. Nobody's concerned with GOP voters turning to Dems. That's not necessary for the Dems to win. It doesn't matter what the Dems do, they get 45% of the vote automatically. The GOP has to get their base out to win. Period. If they don't, they will LOSE.

Another assumption I am fighting on this very thread: That the GOP is not doing what the conservative base wants ...
Look at HR 4377, passed by the House!

"BAD ASSUMPTION."
The bad assumption is assuming conservatives are even going to vote since the GOP refuses to listen to them.
