I saw that there was something squirelly about the link to the preview thread, but the post I where I gave a working link was way downstream from when you found it (well, it got posted before your question did, but it was number 156, so you wouldn't have had a chance to see it by the time you posted your question... temporal posting paradoxes bother me).  I wish we had the ability to view threads in threaded order. (now watch, we do and I've just never bothered looking).

In IE I got the "not on this server" error.  In Firefox it would open whatever page it was clicked from.  So if I clicked on it from the main thread I went back to the top of the main thread.  If I was in the 'replies' stuff it would reopen the replies stuff.  The link seemed to change with each view.  I'd kind of like to find out how that works.  It might be useful someday <g>.

You have been added to the ping list.  Thank you for the compliment.

This is what I wound up posting in # 2 (minus the spaces before and after the tag brackets):

< a href="posts?page=2#2" >

What it shoud have been was:

< a href="http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1615354/posts "> < /a >

How that occured I don't know; I probably copied over the wrong segment or had something else on top of the clipboard.
