Great take, I think it shows the frustration along the border.Law enforcement is dying to do something, anything, but have little support, so far, from congress..

This has it's own thread so I hope that the Conservative media like Rush picks up on it. I know Hannity will. It is a very long article though and maybe should be read when the reader of the thread is relaxing and has time to absorb.

I remember that for a while, Sean Hannity was calling her his surrogate Congresswoman because he lives in New York...but, I haven't heard him talk about her for a while...

I wonder if HE would go down and speak up for her, like he did for Bush in 2004???

Gosh, when I did it, I don't think there were over 500 or so posts...

OR, it could take until Tuesday or Wednesday, so the judges can wait for all of the bribes to come to their freepmail....ya think? huh? huh?? LOL

Happy Easter everybody!

Anita, Many thanks for these media nuggets. No wonder the MSM is so down about the economy. Talk about projection. No one wants read/watch their lies.

Yes...I have found the argument that "it is taking too long" in Iraq, but Kerry, Dodd and others just SICKENING....and so unenlightened.

They need to go back to school and learn AMERICAN History...and they also seem to blame Rummy, when I seem to remember a speech that Rummy gave a LONG time ago, saying it was going to be "a long, hard, slog"...

I will never forget that...and the MSM shouldn't ...because they made such a big deal about his use of the word "slog".

Too true. :-(

The family is preparing to see the Flight 93 movie next weekend, tissue box in hand.

I read about Rick in the Reader's Digest several years ago. What an incredible man. He KNEW!

It annoys me no end when people trash Cheney and Rumsfeld. They KNOW too!

God bless you, Ronnie, and the men and women in harm's way to protect us.

One thing we do know for sure...

This "talking point" that they all use that Shinseki was fired for saying we needed more troops for the war in Iraq, is a crock!!

The relationship began on a sour note during the 1992 campaign. As a youth, Clinton had avoided the draft, written a letter expressing "loathing" for the military; and demonstrated against the Vietnam War while in Britain on a Rhodes scholarship. Relations turned venomous with the awful controversy over gays in the military, when the administration--in ignorance and arrogance--announced its intention to abolish the ban on open homosexual service immediately, without study or consultation. The Joint Chiefs of Staff responded by resisting, floating rumors of their own and dozens of other resignations, encouraging their retired brethren to arouse congressional and public opposition, and then more or less openly negotiating a compromise with their commander in chief. (1)

The newly elected president was publicly insulted by service people (including a two-star general) in person, in print, and in speeches. So ugly was the behavior that commanders had to remind their subordinates of their constitutional and legal obligations not to speak derogatorily of the civilian leadership; the Air Force chief of staff felt obliged to remind his senior commanders "about core values, including the principle of a chain of command that runs from the president right down to our newest airman." I can't argue about whether Newt has a brilliant mind or not...I will take your word for it...but,

Right now, he is running for POTUS, so I listen to his remarks with an ear toward what his GOAL is in taking a position...and I find him finding clever ways to fence sit..while accusing both sides of not being as smart as he is.

CLINTON: "I Didn't Kill the Kid"

Lt. Col. Tom McKenney (Ret)

from: The Clinton Chronicles Book, 1994

the father of Sergeant Shughart refused to shake Clinton's hand, then looked him in the face and calmly told him that he was responsible for his son's death, that it was for no purpose, that he was not fit to be President, and not fit to be Commander in Chief.

I was not living in the US during the Clinton years, so cannot pinpoint the block of military resignations. My memory is of a series of folks who could not support the 'sensitivity-training' military and the CIC and quietly left.

In an area of the world where religious and sometimes political change can be measured in centuries, for Dodd to demand instant govt. just shows this is just more get GWB all the time. That's all it can possibly be.

Right now, he is running for POTUS

I completely discount his presidential ambitions.  It's not going to happen, no matter what he thinks.

Having concluded that some time ago I look at Newt as a valuable resource that we have to channel into more productive endeavors.

Thank you!!!

You're amazing at finding stuff. :-)

I'm remembering something about 14 officers. They all resigned on the same day, but the DOD refused to announce it, and the MSM refused to report it. But I can't remember what the particular issue was, or if there was a *particular* issue...

Thanks for wracking your brain.

Doug, does this ring any bells for you? Can you think of someone here who might remember?

Thanks,

Newt was a great majority leader in Congress. But does that mean he can be a great President also, not necessarily.
