I am a public high school teacher at a large urban school. We have a school population that mirrors, pretty closely, the US population.

I don't have any answers, but I have generalizations whose accuracy I would swear to:

Asians and Whites make up the great bulk taking AP and high level math courses.

Browns and Blacks take the classes they see as easiest to pass.

Black males (especially) are headed for disaster. Drop out rates are huge. Their main interest in life seems to be about being decked out in current, expensive, ghetto fashion. Two hundred dollar sneakers, sagging pants, and expensive, turned on an angle, baseball caps.

We are losing black males in huge numbers. If we point out that their adoption of a street culture is killing them we are called racists or cultural imperialists. So we just keep watching it happen.

What a shame.

Most of these immigrants are supporting families.

They have a desire to maintain the family.

They help their children learn a trade.

Family units are badly needed in inner city neighborhoods.

"They're just feeding their families".

IF they understood that keeping it in their pants and/or other practicing of birth control would solve some of that part of the problem, some of this wouldn't be happening.

The influence of the Catholic church for the last 500 years in this problem is not to be discounted, IMO.

Sounds like "white privilege" has nothing to do with it. More like "black self-loathing".

Oh, please! In the Bible, God says, "Be fruitful and multiply." This is a commandment to all Christians (and Jews). In this country, having a large family was something protestants were expected to do, also. But now, few Americans do. This applies to American catholics as well. I think only Mormons, and certainly not all of them, proscribe to large families as the dictates of their faith.

It is just a fact that as a country becomes more prosperous and wealthy for families to cut back on the number of kids they have. If the catholics truly had an influence on this, then why does Italy, the HOME of the Catholic Church, have below replacement birthrate?

At least, they are feeding their families and not the government.

'The whole United States is going to change," the African-American store manager said as he got his hair cut at a Union Street barbershop on a recent morning... :o)

The Reps are only cowardly because it would affect their money and power train. After all, they have to feed, clothe, etc their families and friends in splendid style.

A little cognitive dissonance here. If the elected Republicans weren't so cowardly, they'd see the strategic opportunity to cut into the heart of the Democrat voting bloc and go after African-American votes on the immigration issue.

Senate’s Upside-Logic Cake

...

This immigrant competition has hit black Americans especially hard. A recent New York Times report pointed out, "In 2000, 65 percent of black male high school dropouts in their 20s were jobless — that is, unable to find work, not seeking it or incarcerated. By 2004, the share had grown to 72 percent, compared with 34 percent of white and 19 percent of Hispanic dropouts."

Old civil-rights groups avoid debate on immigration

...

Yet, many blacks soft-target illegal immigrants for the crisis and loudly claim that they take jobs from unskilled and marginally skilled blacks. Black fury over immigration has cemented an odd alliance between black anti-immigrant activists and GOP conservatives, fringe anti-illegal immigration groups and racially tinged America-first groups.

''Immigration is going to set the black community back 25 years......

It may do worse than that. It may destroy the Black community.

There are many black folks who work hard and have joined the mainstream, in effect leaving the Black community. What is left will just dry up and blow away, overcome by thw wave of people who work regularly rather than just before the rentis due.

How do kids make money these days?

Kids don't. Their parents enroll them in soccer camps, swim camps, computer courses, and volunteer programs. Those activities count more on college applications.

It is a crime to throw the word impeachment around so casually. INHO the President has done absolutely nothing to warrant even the mention of impeachment.

Don't call me a Bushbot, because there is plenty to criticize.

Blacks moan and groan about oppression and discrimination while they sink further and further into self-scorn and refuse to look for jobs where they might have to actually work.
WHY do you suppose that is?

You know, as angered by this immigration thing as I am, it has brought some very good facts out into broad daylight for all to see. The blacks ( not all, but you know the ones) that have been crying 'racism and oppression' are finally seen for the lazy liars that they are. There ARE opportunities for entry-level, low skilled jobs for those that are willing to start at the bottom and work hard. For some reason, many blacks think these jobs are beneath them when they have no more qualifications for them than any immigrant (no high school ed, job skills, work history).

Recently a company was turned away from moving closer to the city here because black leaders in the community said the jobs wouldn't be 'good enough'. They all think they should be able to go from high school drop-out in the ghetto to a nice cushy cubicle making 100k a year. It's insane!

I dont think you are a Bushbot.
But It seems to me that Bush dont really care about the welfare of the people of this country. The ones that work hard and pays taxes and plays by the rules.
IMHO all the GOP needs is to grow a backbone and declare themselves friends of the working man and start making it harder for the wetbacks to get here. They are blowing a wonderful chance.

The sad fact is that blacks blindly vote Bolshecrat. Their 15% combined with the 25% looney left leave the Bolshecrats only needing 10% out of the middle to win. The left would be in the dumps if blacks actually used their vote to mean something. It is the left that needs to keep them a perpetual victim in order to secure their vote. It is the Demovik that is trying hardest to make immigration an issue, where, black demographics will mire them deeply into third place, from their current second, in the political lexicon of Bolshecrat politics.

"Where has everyone been for the last 60 years?????"

No kidding.
From the article at the thread linked below has a similar howler :

"The revolutionary tone has surprised even longtime immigration watchers
such as Ira Mehlman, the Los Angeles-based spokesman for the Federation for
American Immigration Reform.
"I've always been skeptical myself about this [reconquista], but what
I've seen over the last few weeks leads me to believe that there's more there
than I thought," Mr. Mehlman said.
"You're seeing people marching with Mexican flags chanting, 'This is
our country.' I don't think that we can dismiss this as youthful exuberance
or a bunch of hotheads," he said. "
