This is exactly the sort of book that people seeking a full understanding of the war should read - along with many others that deal with other specifics - and I'm curious as to why Publisher's Weekly seems so frightened by the propect that they might.

Well, that's true, Bigfootbob. It's just outrageous that they could be against a book (or Cap Weinberger for that matter) that recognizes the bravery of our troops.
Because the MSM is left, meaning they are socialists. Socialism is, by definition, anti-American.
In contrast, the military are, also by definition, the most pro-American segment of society.
It is, therefore, only natural that the left would fear the military. And, because they are feared, they are hated.
I really don't believe it is anymore complicated than that.
But of course the socialist project is that making yourself look good in print is heroism (virtual reality style). A soldier can die as none can better,". . . facing fearful odds,- but what is that compared to rhetorically facing down a terrible domestic tyrant (who you are absolutely sure is actually perfectly harmless).

That's true. I'm going to do the same. I've got a few radical liberal co-workers that need to read this book as well. But the "open-minded" liberals probably will be too busy trashing Cap's book to actually read it.
One thing I've never heard anyone fully explain is the origins or roots of how the MSM got so anti-military and anti-America. Why is it this way? How did we get to this point?
