Why shouldn't the church lean left? Greed may = capitalism may = propserity in the real world. But it's certainly clear that the only way to be a Christian with money is to give to charity.

Those who accumlate are just as sinful as homosexuals that lie together.

But of course people don't want to talk about that.. people would rather talk about how they are better than others. They dare not look at themselves.

That is the church doctrine that so enraged Ayn Rand--and frankly enrages me.

Wealthy people don't just hide their money in cash under their mattress. They spend it throughout the economy which employs people of all means and makes life better for everyone--or they invest it in capital formation which does the same.

Good intentions don't count friend--results do.

In the real world it is only the wealthy people who _can_ do good deeds that can help thousands of others--and all they have to is spend or invest--that is why capitalism is inherently moral and socialism is inherently immoral.

(I am not wealthy--btw--but I would be a better person if I was. :-) )

But it's certainly clear that the only way to be a Christian with money is to give to charity.

Charity unenlightened by wisdom often guarantees only that the charity will be wasted. In the parable of the talents, the servants who were commended were the servants who wisely invested it.

There is a kind of private charity that is equivalent to throwing money into a black hole where it serves merely to prolong or increase poverty. And socialism is the equivalent of not merely burying a talent, but entombing it in concrete.

Wise use of wealth is the sine qua non of effective charity and the mark of true Christian.

Psssttt... don't tell anyone, but the United States gives more to charity and donates more time to community service than any other developped nation on earth.

As a for instance, Amercans give 6 times more per capita relative to income than than Brits. And it only becomes more striking when you compare American giving to continental Europe or time spent on volunteer activities.

Suffice it to say that I don't consider socialism charitable, either. In socialism, oney that is given is not given as a sacrifice by the giver. It is mandatory, it is done with expectations of reward in other arenas in life, and it is rarely accompanied by other charitable giving or donations. There is no spirit in it.

For the first time today I understand greed. I had to get some info from my insurance company and found out my deductible had been raised to double the amount. Now that being said these same people who own this company paid thousands of dollars for the entryway floor into her house ,spent thousands of dollars for a car for their 16 old granddaughter, but yet went the cheap way for insurance for their employees. And this is the very same people who flaunt their diamonds and property and such. With the expense of insurance and now the higher deductible it gets harder and harder of even using the damn insurance, which is exactly what they want. Now I understand why people get down on the oil companies and Walmart. There is a moral responsibility to the very least help people who need medical services. Real greed has never been so obvious to me now.
