The Left, Online and Outraged
The Washington Post ^ | Saturday, April 15, 2006 | David Finkel

Posted on 04/14/2006 11:15:21 PM PDT by Plutarch

In the angry life of Maryscott O'Connor, the rage begins as soon as she opens her eyes and realizes that her president is still George W. Bush... Out there, awaiting her building fury: the Angry Left, where O'Connor's reputation is as one of the angriest of all. "One long, sustained scream" is how she describes the writing she does for various Web logs...

---------------snip----------------------

What's notable about this isn't only the level of anger but the direction from which it is coming. Not that long ago, it was the right that was angry and the left that was, at least comparatively, polite. But after years of being the targets of inflammatory rhetoric, not only from fringe groups but also from such mainstream conservative politicians as Newt Gingrich, the left has gone on the attack. And with Republicans in control of Washington, they have much more to be angry about.

"Powerlessness" is O'Connor's explanation. "This is born of powerlessness..."

The left has never been polite to conservatives in my lifetime, at least.

She is not alone. I keep receiving anti-bush-republican-american emails from a fella I know in California. When I got up at 6am Texas time he had already sent me 5 emails blasting everything except the left. This must be a mental condition of some kind.

As for the keyboard, it is where O'Connor finished her evolution from lost soul to angry soul, beginning with that very first rant, which concluded with a wish that Bush, "after contracting incurable cancer and suffering for protracted periods of time without benefit of medication," go to hell.

She is one angry woman. It would be interesting to find out her screen name and respond to all her posts with kind words. My bet is she would just get angrier.

I recently stopped correspondence with a long time friend over in London (England) because he kept trotting out the anti Bush, anti American propaganda from the Guardian, Robert Fisk et al. and I kept refuting it.

Especially since I've just had one of my engineers return from 18 months in Iraq as 1st sgt of an artillary unit and we've discussed the situation in depth. Reality ain't what it's all cracked up to be for these types.

I just find it amazing that a chainsmoking alcoholic is carrying the water for the far left even though they are officially trying to put the tobacco industry out of business...

I recently met a gal, a deeply stupid gal, who told me she was planning to get married in 2010 on the anniversary of the day Nixon resigned. These loons are fueled by hatred. And their hatreds can span years. They never get over it. They need to GET A LIFE.

Thanks for that. I was hoping that someone would point out where the real blame for Vietnam lies.

Pick *any* daily news headline and the modern Left will spin it such that it's Bush's fault.

The other day at my office meeting, my broker was reading an article to us about the real estate market, mainly how about 30% of real estate sold today is for 2nd homes. It went on to say that in 1997 the law changed to allow coouples to keep tax free up to $500,000 capital gains from the sale of their primary residence. I made a comment before I asked a question, a comment I make to all of my clients when discussing this capital gains law change, this happened as a result of the republican control of congress.

Within a minute some lib, and we are mostly conservatives says, yeah but Scooter Libby lied to the grand jury or was it Bush lying. Unbelievable, trying to point out a positve event for all Americans concerning the American dream and they immediately serve left and say, "Yeah but,We hate Bush!"

I'd say that this is their substitute. Getting a life involves responsibility, foresight and vision, and goal setting. I'm sure that this perpetual childish victimhood is much easier and immediately rewarding.

Awesome picure, que no? What I don't understand was why the reporter didn't throw her up against the wall about that thing where they hired her to do that blog and then had to fire her three days later after all the stuff she ripped off over the years came floating to the surface. I would have been on that like a pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity.

Jim Robinson needs a new poll:

This woman last had sex with a man:

(1) Longer than five years ago

(2) Three years to five years ago

(3) One year to three years ago

(4) Less than one year ago

Then (and now) he succumbs to megalomania

Yep, he was a bit of a megalomaniac - like a Third World dictator :)

Aren't all politicians?

Is there any doubt at all that if people like this woman were to somehow seize power, one of the first things they would do is round up every person in this country who ever voted for a Republican at any point in their life and line them up in front of a ditch on some cold, gray morning?

And of course, the media just loves these perpetually enraged leftists. These people are their core audience, the ones who buy, and will continue to buy, their newspapers and magazines, and watch their "news" programs, no matter how openly slanted and hateful toward consevatives, and eventually anyone to the right of Hugo Chavez, they get. These people are the reason why the media will never change, even as they go bankrupt.
