The greatest offense I've seen of people hearing the bilingual debate are immigrants who've learned English. An Indian who learned English is more than a little miffed when told HE has to learn spanish. Why? If Indians and Chinese and Russians and Nigerians learn English in their schools, why not Hispanics here in the US?
If Hispanics are too special to be bothered by bilingualism, then they are dangerously close to bother with any other form of equality. If Hispanics are incapable of being bilingual, then we should import tri-lingual Indians first.
The United States of America
will henceforth be known as ...
BUSHMART
... where the doors are never closed and the shoppers are never hosed.
"Welcome to Bushmart, senor. Would you like a cart?"
Watching the criminals march and reading their signs have shown that they consider the border illegal and the "Americas" as one nation and the southwest as Mexican territory they want returned.
By that reckoning we should be a spanish speaking nation .
If we do not take a stand NOW for a constitutional change in the "anchor baby law" and stand for English being the national language, and if we do not put up walls on the souther border, the USA will be a third world nation for our grandchildren.
It is NOW or never
"Free market" is a buzzword and spin if there is no equanimity between nations. Where is the equanimity between Mexico and the U.S.? Their immigration laws, written into their constitution, are very restrictive and strongly enforced and ours are weak and unenforced.
