Your comparison of gun owners to Muslims is laughable. People own guns-Islam owns people.
Guns do not demand their owners use them to subjugate others. Guns-and other gun owners- will not kill another owner who does not use it to subjugate or kill others.
Islam is not an object that can be picked up or not. It is imbedded in the Muslim brain from birth. To reject it is to incur the wrath of others infected with it; and that rule against rejecting it is PART of the package.
You don't call a belief system that says you must die- and other believers must kill you if you disobey or disagree with it-evil?
What people believe makes them what they are. If millions of 'good' Muslims refuse to separate themselves from the Islam we now know, why do you insist on doing it?
Unfortunately for your argument, millions of 'good' Muslims are dying alongside our soldiers for freedom.
Maybe that is why we do it?
