An Iraqi officer of significant rank approached my translator as I quietly took notes near the banks of the Euphrates River, at a combat observation post named COP Dunlop. He knew I was an embedded American. He had a sense, perhaps, that I was a sympathetic soul, and he wanted to pass along an urgent message.

Thanks for the ping. A great article. The title is perfect.
I, too, have seen the enemy, day after day after day. Our primary enemy is the leftist American media.

Yes, I broke the code a long time ago and find the MSM's traitorous behavior infuriating.
I'm forwarding something I posted to Coop. It is regarding Mr. Zirkle, an honorably discharged Marine who fought in the initial invasion of Iraq and The Battle of Fallujah 1. He is doing exactly what I think needs to be done. Allegra, if you agree would you be so kind to pass this on to as many Soldiers, Marines and coworkers as possible. If you have a special ping list that would be nice too. (And yes, I signed up already.)
The second mp3 file towards the middle (about 4 minutes into part two of a four part interview), has a great, honest, heartfelt confrontation between Mark Seavey (a former Sgt) and Murtha/Moran during a town hall meeting. It's fabulous. I think you will enjoy it greatly.
Happy Happy Easter. Stay safe and sound, please.

DU is mainly an anti armor round.
HE is anti personnel
City fighting against insurgents doesn't involve AT fire
even the apaches are firing 30mm HE rounds in COIN ops
Tanks fire Heat rounds to take out buildings
and with our current fire control systems nobody Willy nilly sprays an area with anti tank rounds
one shot - one kill for the M1's
even the 25mm bradley gunners fire short controlled bursts of 3-5 rounds
The statement doesn't make sense based on a lot of reasons having to do with current tactical doctrines. And it really is MSM crap to use DU contamination as a way to disparage the remarkable minimal loss of life in the conquest of Iraq, compared to any other military engagement of similiar size in the past. All the DU in current military inventory wouldn't make a 10 ft cube.

And I tell them outright that our media is corrupt, Marxist and agenda-driven.Good for you Allegra. Through the internet, our email lists etc. we're trying to get the word out.
But it's slow going.

But by any reasonable standard, "the conflict in Iraq is a civil war," said James Fearon, a Stanford University political scientist who specializes in the study of civil conflict.Lacking the time to read and analyze his body of work, I'll speculate that Fearon, like 90+% of all poli-sci professors, is a hate America lefty lunatic spounting RAT talking points.

And, if I'm wrong, I'll apologize to the professor.

Because there's not a civil war going on here.

I don't think it's self-satisfaction. I think it's passion, pure and simple. I think "passion" is a particulary zealous form of "self satisfaction."
