Immigration talking points

Is the debate on Capitol Hill about immigration a sincere one? Are the politicians seriously pondering the fate of this nation of laws or are they more interested in their political hides? Those are the very questions American citizens should be asking themselves every time the John McCains use the "I" word. If you're a card-carrying member of the McCain clan then you believe, as Mexico's president does and as Mr. McCain recently said, that there "are certain jobs that Americans are simply not willing to do." The senator from Arizona stands with the elistists and liberals, whose point of view is: Let the immigrants do the dirty work cleaning toilets, picking cotton, er, produce, and let them suckle the young ones. Mr. McCain knows he can't win over the conservatives come 2008. So what does he do? He gets in bed with Ted Kennedy. As Big Mama would say: "John, the hired help has made your bed, now lie in it." If you're in search of a senator with presidential aspirations who is at least standing on moral, principled ground, look to the South. Sen. George Allen of Virginia, put it this way recently on ABC's "This Week": "I think it's vitally important that we first and foremost recognize that there's a consensus in America that we need to secure our borders." The Republican, who is up for re-election to his Senate seat, also said, "I don't think that we ought to be passing anything that rewards illegal behavior or amnesty. Is that different than the president's position? Apparently so."

Granting immunity to 11 milliom people does not solve the problem of illegal immigration. It only encourages 11 million more to pour over our porous borders.
Now if we need that extra 11 million they should come in thru the entry ports , not just walk on over.
Do these people want to become Americans. If they do thats fine too , If they dont they need to go home occasionally. Like after 2 years and wait until the next batch returns home before entering again.
There needs to be a plan and Congress hasnt the willpower nor the guts to make and enforce one.
I cannot believe Americans want to stop immigrants from coming here, What we do want is for there to be laws and regulations, limits and restrictions. Not a vast hoard of ignorant beggars and criminals invading our country .Insisting on getting rights our ancestors fought for. Like a guest in any home there are limits to our generosity.

I live in Tennessee and I cannot even go to the car wash without a Spanish speaking woman telling me to put in more more money. It is disgusting.

I am sorry, but everything you just said is far too reasonable for FR. You didn't write that we should build a huge fence, nor round up and deport 11 million people, or make them into criminals or anything that was even remotely far from a common sense approach. You are looking and this problem from a realistics and appropriate point of view and suggesting some possible and implementable solutions. What's wrong with you?

You are looking and this problem from a realistics and appropriate point of view and suggesting some possible and implementable solutions. What's wrong with you? As a matter of fact he did advocate deporting them and making them come in through channels. His key phrase had to do with obeying the laws of the land, our land.
The only way to solve this problem is to enforce our existing laws and add a few small ones, such as English being the national language.
Deport the ILLEGALS. That is the "common sense" approach. Any other approach rewards law breakers. As far as "making ciminals" out of them, they did that themselves as soon as they stepped across our borders with out going through the LEGAL process. The term ILLEGAL ALIEN , by it's very definition, means criminal alien.
See, it works like this: If some one breaks a law they are then considered a criminal. At least that is how it works in most countries.

The illegals come here breaking our laws ..then they avoid living by our laws..they cause harm to legal citizens- and you think a "moderate" lets reward them give in, is the solution.
From you post you reveal yourself all too well. On senator McCain's or Harry Reid's staff are you?

' far too reasonable for FR. '
So you don't think anyone on FR can be reasonable? hmmmmm I thought there were a lot of 'reasoned' debates. There are many views given here. We don't all agree, or walk in lockstep. Are you used to being somewhere else, where only one point of view is allowed?

The illegals have completely taken advantaged of and abused American generosity to the breaking point, aided and abetted by the leadership of both political parties. Like spoiled children and criminals, they've taken advantage of overindulgent parents who never say "NO", and are trying to take over the house and run us out of it.

LEAGAL Immigration should not be stopped. Building a HUGE fence will not stop the problem. What needs to be done is to give the border patrol the men, money and equipment it needs to do its job. Give the INS back its teeth and give them the things they need to do their job. Granting law breakers amnesty is not some thing that should be done. It sends the wrong message. Congress no longer cares about the people who put them in office. They no longer care about the good of the nation. They no longer care about what is right and what is wrong. All they do seem to care about is getting reelected. It saddens me to think that the people we put in office are concerned about only themselves and what special interest group lobbies are going to pay them.

Look around you, you could count on one hand the elected government leaders that are in support of law enforcement, the rest are scared to death of being labeled racist hitlers.
