For those of us who believe in the God of the Bible, and also support evolution, we see God as the Creator, but we cannot know how or in what time frame, he carried out his creation...But for those of us who believe in the God of the Bible and do NOT also support evolution, but actually believe the bible, some of us are confident that God was telling the truth when he said he created man in HIS image...
If one was to believe in evolution as well as God, God then would likely resemble a tadpole...If the bible says that God created modern man in one day, I'll buy that...

Well, first let me say, that those who believe in the God of the Bible, and support evolution, actually also believe in the Bible, just as you say you do...
However, different interpretations are always present....you chose one way to interpret what the Bible means, I may chose another, another person will chose another way, and so on...how else to explain so many different Christian religions?...just step into religious discussion on FR, and you will see many and various disagreements about many Biblical things...even so far, as arguing about the meaning of even just words, words, such as 'mother', 'brother', 'sister', 'til', 'day', 'year', and so on...if Christians from various denominations cannot agree even on the meanings of specific words, its easy to see, why Christians from various denominations also disagree on what specific 'passages' mean...much of it all comes down to interpretation...and since interpretations come from man, and no man is perfect, then there will be errors made...you may be wrong, or right, but then again, I may be wrong or right...
I find that your remark, that if one supports evolution and also believes in God, that would make God looking like a tadpole, leads me to believe that your understanding of evolution is incorrect...

Quoting from 181:

Why didn't you say "the Eagle"? The Eagle is our national symbol. You chose tadpole. I am curious--why do think tadpoles represent creationist values and you disparage the eagle?

Yes, but what is in His image?
John 24 says this
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."
I think what some of the Christians on these threads believe is that God could have done it anyway he wants to. If he wanted to create the world in the way YEC see it, he could have. If he wanted to create it the way Old Earth Creationist see it, he could have. And he could very well have done it through all, or some degree of evolution. God has at his power the very foundations for which nature works. He created this. It is possible that through creating this very foundation through which the Earth's resources, forces of nature, and the cosmos are all subject, he also created life. I'll be honest. I'm not 100 percent convinced he did it through evolution. But, it is a possibility. Think of the entire universe, how immense and awe inspiring it is! God is limitless, utterly limitless! If it did take several billion years to get to what it is now, what is that to God? It doesn't apply to him.
I have no doubt that the Bible is inspired. If the writer was trying to interpret God's creation, as awe inspiring as it is, could it even be put into words? How would one explain it to the people of the time? Even today, with all of our understanding of science, could we really begin to describe, with much accuracy, God's creation? Think about it, the size of it, the harmony of it, it's fluidity, and how it cycles, the way in which it renews itself, refines itself, and so forth. The scope of ALL of it is so undeniably amazing! It is a work of art in which we see just a little fleck of paint.
As wondrous as creation is though, it's not what salvation is not based on.

Piltdown man was definitely a hoax. It was the continued efforts of scientists that uncovered the fraud.
ID types contributed absolutely nothing.
The fraud of creationists/televangelists promising heaven in return for $$bucks is perhaps a worse fraud. There is exactly zero evidence that anyone went to "heaven", no matter what their faith-belief.
There is good reason to understand that our existence on this planet comes about via natural processes. This is neither pro-god nor anti-god. "Magic" explanations have been promoted, by those who claim tax-exemption and do no productive work.
What is your view?

You think God has a physical body like a man?
You don't think he was talking about making man's SOUL in his image? That seems more likely to me than the idea that God has a poorly designed back and earlobes and nosehair and armpits.
