""I think Newt would make a good VP. I know some will say he has too much baggage, but look at the opposition and tell me which one of them doesn't have baggage? Hillary, Kerry, Dean?????""

It took me awhile to get back to this thread but it was worth the trouble. I agree with you about Newt Gingrich. It would make for an interesting race.

(This is a general response, not directed at you in any manner)

Newt has the political mind many politicians do not. Newt is a very good speaker. Newt has personal issues which drag down his popularity. Newt was a key figure in the Conservative movement that took back the White House and both houses of Congress. The '08 presidential race will be a bloodbath. The Democrats are desperate and willing to do anything, and I mean anything to regain power.

The MSM aka the old media, will be just as vicious against every Conservative candidate in the race. The Dan Rather ANG memo may be repeated in some fashion. FReeper's have a few desirable candidates at this point like Allen, but we must be prepared for the fact that our personal favorites may or may not resonate with the general public and be willing to choose a Newt or Rudy Giuliani without falter over a Hillary, Kerry, or Dean.

That may sound silly but I have seen posts on FR saying we should vote third party or not vote at all, that is nonsense and must be ignored as hysteria. If we do not feel happy with Congress or the president living up to our personal level of job performance we must replace those up for reelection with better politicians, ones who will follow Conservative values. Voting Democrat or third party only hurts our chances of cleaning up Congress.

We went from a Liberal control of Congress to a false Republican majority because we have to many RINO's in office. I see this as a natural progression for a country leaning Conservative again after many decades of Liberalism.

The public majority has the ability and I believe the will to continue the change from Liberalism to Conservatism. RINO's will find it harder and harder to hang on to their Congressional seats as the public will demand action on issues they do not support. I know some will say most seats in Congress are safe, maybe true by party but not between Republicans running for the same seat.

We must not take anything for granted, nor should politicians we elect to represent us. Anger is good when it is properly ventilated in a positive manner. Simply moaning and groaning over what politicians do and refusing to participate because we failed to achieve all our goals is not an answer, we must hold them accountable and take action.

We must support our president, our troops, and their mission in this pivotal time in our history. Our enemies are watching everything we say and do, looking for signs of weakness. There is much to lose by eating our own for personal satisfaction.

The president has issues he must address which are felt deeply within the base which we believe are being ignored, but we cannot allow these issues to become weapons for our political, foreign, or domestic enemies to defeat us. We must think before we react and seek the best opportunity and method to approach these issues.
