I was just looking at Allens website for his senate re-election bid, his philosophy on Government is near perfect!! He has an all American family and his wife just has that first lady look to her which complements George's Presidential leadership 'vibe' Any FReepers know more about allen? Is his name being tossed around for 2008?

We need that kind of leadership in the White House next time around like we need another 30 million illegals... Apparently, you're afraid he'll win. I understand your concern now.

Once George Allen's abortion views are more widely known, his campaign is toast.
Anyone on working in the Allen camp (which undoubtedly includes a few FReepers) should realize that's the sinking ship.

Ah, now there is something we can agree upon. Senator Sessions is the real deal.
Frankly, I oppose George Allen strictly on principle.
For starters, I think his philosophical positions regarding the sanctity of human life are intellectually vacuous and extremely damaging to the pro-life movement.
Either it is a scientific fact that human life begins at conception, the moment the unique DNA of the new human person comes into being, or it isn't.
As is almost always the case, that same vacuity on abortion tends to be an indicator of squishiness on a broad range of other issues.
My questions to our fellow poster are designed to point up some of that obvious squishiness in the Senator's record.
Is Senator George Allen the worst politician in Washington, DC these days? Not by a long shot.
But, that doesn't mean he should be anointed the leader of the conservative movement or of the Republican coalition. He doesn't deserve it. He hasn't been a true leader on the pressing issues of our day.
And I believe with all of my heart that the next nominee of the Republican Party should be that kind of leader....someone who has shown the courage of his convictions, who can effectively communicate the truth that traditional conservative principles are the way to freedom and security and prosperity for our nation.
Another Ronald Reagan, if you will.

Sorry, but it's a fact.
No Republican who leans toward abortion can win.
The "Religious Right" will abandon such a candidate in the general election, should he fool enough to win the nomination.

Ah, now there is something we can agree upon. Senator Sessions is the real deal. Senator Sessions hasn't even indicated an interest, but McCain is fond of saying that every senator has presidential aspirations.
Like I said before, I can't knowledgeably comment on George Allen specifics. I think he's a good senator and from what I recall, he was a good governor too.

Sorry, but it's a fact. No, it's a load of crap. And you know that.
There is no possible GOP contender out there with a better record on life issues than George Allen. We've documented that over and over and over and over.

Perhaps not. But all it will take is a percentage who will sit out the election, and the Democrat will win.
George Bush would have lost had he held George Allen's abortion views.

George Allen had one pro-choice vote in 1992.
His stated position is that abortion should be legal before "viability." That will turn off enough pro-choice voters to cost him the election.
Sorry you don't like the bitter truth.

Do you know how tiresome and incorrect that is?
What segment elected GWB in '04?
I'll wager you do not know the answer.

George Bush would have lost had he held George Allen's abortion views. Wow, you're right. He definitely would have.
Some folks just don't understand that pro-life is the gravitational core around which the Republican coalition turns.
Remove it, and the whole thing will come flying apart...
