I agree with stiffer punishment for employers after a biometric forge-resistant card is distributed. Fines adjusted for company size would be appropriate AND jail similar to what we do to corporate audit cheats like Ken Lay etc. INS rounding them up at the protests?...I have thought about that. My opinion is that any case ANY law enforcement (local, state, or Federal) has a reason to enforce any other law or violation should be cause to show ID. If illegal, AFTER the law has been fixed, then deportation should occur. But not before. I don't think the First Amendment permits stopping people just because they are protesting. The First Amendment has been held to apply to PERSONs not just citizens and I think that's right, as much as I hate the protests.
The Constitution doesn't guarantee rights to non-citizens. Felony for illegals and lose any chance to come here legally. Those who choose to return a second time are thumbing their nose at law. Why be a nation of law if a certain segment who are not citizens are allowed to ignore it?
