AgapePress) - A Roman Catholic immigration reform activist is joining a growing number of her fellow Catholics in calling for a boycott of parishes and dioceses that support the deliberate violation of American immigration laws.
Cardinal Roger Mahony heads the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the largest Catholic archdiocese in the United States. As an outspoken supporter of illegal aliens, Mahony has criticized a bill that would tighten enforcement of immigration laws, a position that puts him at odds with an increasing number of church members who support the legislation.
According to Susan Tully of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), many Roman Catholics are unhappy with their church leaders who, like Mahony, advocate for illegal aliens. "I am a Catholic, and there's a whole bunch of us who are calling for a boycott of the Catholic Church," she says.
"n other words," Tully explains, "we're telling other Catholics, 'If you want to go to church to receive communion and a service or whatever, that would be fine, but do not financially support [the church]." And as for Cardinal Mahony, she contends, it is important for church members to remember what is truly motivating him.

Is Mahony, the Catholic Churches answer to Jesse Jackson and Rev Al Sharpton?
All well having a religious touch covering the "compassionate" side of illegal was a nice touch by these liberals, wait until there is a demand to balance the numbers by another religion.
I think I could get on board with this. I'm a Catholic and am disgusted by the actions of our Cardinal, Cardinal Keeler. Consistently referring to the House Legislation as "evil" and "unchristian". Attending rallies where a black clergyman talks about the "confused, white legislators" in Congress.
But lately it seems as if the church does not care about my concerns or opinions. They only seem to know me when the collection basket is passed around.
Maloney is playing 'Jesse' to O'Malley's Sharpton! A pox on both of them - they should end the tax exempt status of the clergy and church properties if they want to support illegal aliens so badly.
We also need to boycott Mexico. No cruises, flights there etc. until Fox does something to stop the invasion.
This has been bothering me since the illegal issues arose months ago. Hooray for this lady to speak up as not only is the issue of supporting illegals affecting her day to day life it is affecting her religious life. False preachers and leaders exist everywhere and we have to be careful not to support them.
My church (Catholic), like Congress has been taken over by people who are not like us!
Exactly!!! Our family isn't going to Mexico anymore until things right themselves. Additionally, our last visit to PV we had 3 incidents of trying to cheat us and intimidate us. There are too many wonderful places to see in the USA and not exchange money!!
Since FAIR is another one of those liberal anti-population groups founded on the legacy of the eugenics movement, it's not surprising to find them trying to attack the Church.
As big a moron as Mahony is, trying to split people from their faith as this woman is doing is an evil act.
Our priest has not said one word about immigration. Political issues are never discussed in our church.
I am afraid that you are right. Now that the Pope is no longer a staunch anti-communist like John Paul II, they appear to be rapidly sliding back into 1970's style socialism and liberation theology. And this from the same people who will not deny Communion to John Kerry or Ted Kennedy!
You might be right...
My Bishop is horny mahoney in LA...I think we catholics should turn the entire archdioese into the IRS and state if their gonna play politics, they don't derserve the tax goodies that go along with being a church...Since,they are NOT a church, but a political arm of the stinking democrat party
On second thought, what kind of person would think two wrongs make a right?
Your's is an excellent question. I don't know, what kind of person? A mathematician?
I would support this.
