"But there seems to be a new “Republicans vote on Wednesday” taking form in time for the 2006 election. This effort targets grassroots conservatives known for their passionate views about issues who may be open to a grassroots voting rebellion. But the effort is being led, or at the very least aided, by liberals pretending to be grassroots conservatives, as opposed to actual grassroots conservatives themselves.

The concept is the same: the blog or e-mail claims, first, that the said writer has been a conservative for years and that they have “had it with Republicans.” They then point to an issue that conservatives would likely be upset about such as excessive spending, immigration, or the expansion of government. Their supposed rage over the issue has convinced them to either not show up to vote in 2006, or, in order to really show Republicans, vote for the Democrat instead.

The blogs and e-mails are convincing in their wording and could incite the sort of reaction that occurred following the Harriet Miers nomination to the Supreme Court. Of course, any liberal could read Free Republic and find out what’s irritating conservatives this week, grab a handful of phrases, and toss it on their “I’m a conservative but voting for a Democratic because of (insert issue here)” blog. After tossing in a few posts about the evils of Hillary Clinton and abortion, the blog is now being run by a bona-fide “conservative.” A few e-mails and link connections later, the message of conservatives voting against Republicans is spread."

I heartily suggest that conservatives vote. No vote, no voice. Staying home on election day is counterproductive and an abrogation of our responsibilities as a citizen. Protests are conducted with small arms, not abstinence.

I suggest that conservatives vote for conservative candidates. Vote for a liberal and you'll elect a liberal.

I suggest that political philosophy, rather than party registration, remain a concern for conservatives. Vote the candidate, not the party.

I see these faux conservatives all the time on FR. They normally post things like :

"(enter conservative candidate name here) Can't Win"

and

"Vote for (enter liberal Republican name here); They are better than (enter rabid leftist opponent name here)."

dearest delusional FO;

Why don't you name names or is just pinging certain people here your way of doing a McCarthy-like thrust to the chest of those you wish to call out and then stitch a faux C on their chest?

How Cynthia McKinneyish of you to play that little 'race card' and how cheap, I might add, as well.

You and many others might want to think twice about how some who are posting on this thread are just as willing to support moderate candidates who stick it to all of us and with much glee, I might add.

Certainly, subterfuge by any means available has always been on the table for some here who both try and appear supportive of conservatism and also work as hard as they can to cast aspersions on those who seek to reveal moderate supporters like you and others for their own disingenuous 'work' here.. Some have raised it to an artform almost, others are clumsy at best, mean spirited and vindictive at worse. The end game is to make FR a moderate forum, imo, the decay is evident and sadly, even some old-timers get caught up in it, it would seem.

btw, If you wish to post specifics of emails and blog entries , Please do so, if you have any. I doubt it, you're always quick to run and hide when confronted with facts that refute your own offerings and then we get the old if you don't vote for a RINO you voting for the other side. What a reach, imo..

Or are you, as usual, only seeking to cover your own pitiful support for the New Majorityites and a lukewarm conservatism if it could even be considered such, who when viewed closely have their own liberal agenda under the guise of a new brand of "enlightened inclusive" Republicanism and note how their Trojan Horse candidates spew hype and then stab the conservative movement in the back with global warming talk and backing the continued importation and use of illegals workers, and also manage to be for minimum wage increases, domestic partners legislation, and land grabs, etc.

I am so tired of seeing the same folks who willingly swill away on this moderate pap that is dished out by you and a few others here and quite readily so it seems, and then can only laugh when you recoil in shock when confronted for their own lack of understanding or even a willingness to look at the facts and not to fall for all the blather some like you project.

Maybe what Jim posted a few days ago about this being a conservative forum just doesn't or won't get thru to you and some here, so be it. You're so deep into your schtick here now, to leave would just confirm for all what and who you really are all about and it certainly isn't about conservatism, imo, as your undying support for the Gub displays with almost every post in California threads.

No matter how many gays or green get appointed, how much he borrows or porposes to, he can do no wrong. Like I said on other threads, make sure ya get a nice pic of you and the gUb with McCain and get it signed so you can post it here to shwo how you have arrived. I , for one, won't be surprised to see it and I am not alone in that sentiment.
