This is an "OJ In Reverse" in the making.

It's another Tawana Brawley situation.

Unless I see some legitimate evidence to prove otherwise, she'll be known to me as the Durham Dirtbag.

I think most people are being critical because he ran around like a chicken with its head cut off claiming, "We've got a rape here. The DNA will prove who did this, etc., etc." He put himself so far out there that he's almost to the point of no return now.

How brave?? It was a campaign stop imo. He sure isn't rushing over to Duke to explain himself.

I've got a question: According to Barry Scheck (sp?) of OJ infamy on one of the morning show this a.m., DNA tests are usually only conducted if the rape exam finds sperm. Since the DNA results came back negative for any of the lacrosse team, does that mean there was someone else's DNA present? If so, is the DA pursuing that?

Credit Savage for that line.

His performance is about as bad as it can possibly be, from a professional standpoint.

He went public before he had his case made.

His case didn't turn out the way he expected.

Now he's left holding the bag.

Since he's up for re-election, he'll probably bluster and bully and try to get something to the grand jury before the election.

Not the way a prosecutor is supposed to conduct himself.

I hadn't heard that the woman had even identified anyone. What's the story on that?

Yep. I wish I had thought of it, but he deserves the credit.

"I think justice requires a district attorney or an assistant district attorney to be closed mouth about any pending case."

Given the forum, I guess he didn't feel comfortable using the word "alleged" that is so popular in news stories.

DA in yesterday's grandstanding session said that she did identify someone, but that she identified him just last week, which was two weeks after the alleged attack.

.But in this case,if there's nobody charged,or convicted, there'll be rioting in the streets.

Actually, this is Durham, NC, not LA CA. Three of the country's top-ten black-owned businesses, including #1, are headquartered in Durham. The subliminal tension between races is far lower here than it was in my previous hometown, Roanoke, VA. A hundred years ago, Durham was called "the city of refuge," and noteworthy for the things people of color could achieve here. A number of this town's largest churches, like King's Park International Church, have a demographic mix that mirrors that of the city, and are filled with people who enjoy worshipping together.

I love my adopted home town, and have higher expectations, perhaps, than outsiders would.

It appears we have another DA with no integrity.

The DA said yesterday the alleged victim didn't identify anyone until just last week, two weeks after the alleged crime.

After their faces were plastered all over campus.

That's an interesting point. They had to be matching the player's DNA against something, right? Presumably that would be DNA found on her that wasn't hers. We don't know what where the DNA came from -- could have been hair or something and not sperm -- but there's still the question of whose DNA it was.

In a sane world, the lacrosse players who set up a party with a stripper would apologize for that and face some sort of punishment from the school. The stripper would be thrown out of her state colllege for her immoral "job". But of course, that would imply that some values are worth enforcing, and we can't be that "intolerant."

Instead, we get massive media coverage of this degraded spectacle, "racism" charges, and on and on...

According to the defense attorneys who saw the DNA report, there was no sign that she had sex at all. There was no sign of DNA on or in anything.

I think that AT BEST, if the DA can actually prove anything at all, it would only be assault. In reality, he has no case.
