Can millions of listeners just disappear?
That's a question plaguing Howard Stern and one with vital implications for radio itself in the wake of the shock jock's heralded and hyped switch from free to satellite broadcasting.
The self-proclaimed King of All Media once commanded a national audience of 12 million daily listeners before jumping to satellite in January. But since then, his kingdom has shrunk to a small fraction of that size. Meanwhile, the shock jock's main replacements thus far have failed to hold very much of the former flock.

Stern is a zero; obnoxious and not listened too.
I'm so heartbroken that the listener base for schlock jocks has evaporated.

That was a LONG 15 minutes of fame for this arrogant twerp.
So long. Auf Wiedersehen, scheisskopf!
all satellite radio will soon fail!
A Sirius mistake!
Who is this Howard Stern fellow?
Jim Rome has been making similar noises, about whether he's going to go to satellite radio or stay on terrestrial radio with his popular sports show. I hope he sees this and decides to stay on the airwaves instead of going to satellite...don't think satellite is *quite* there yet. Maybe in a few years, but not now. (If he did the move, I wouldn't buy satellite radio, because I mostly listen at work. I'd pay for the streaming feed of his show, instead.)

You're a poet if you didn't knowit. :)
An egotistical bastard that somehow got it into his head that people would pay to listen to him...
I was thinking about switching to Sirius Radio, only because their "Rock" radio stations seem to offer a better variety than XM, but the thought of contributing to the salary of that slime is keeping me from doing it.
Howard Stern is still alive?
Schadenfreude bump. Did that idiot really think the retards that compose his audience would be smart enough to follow him to satellite?
It's like Imus. I only watch because there's nothing better on. There's no way I'd buy a satellite radio for him.
If I had any money I would have sold short the minute he came on the air on sirrius
When the losers are expected to pay to listen, yep.
