Exactly, but sadly not all "parents" I use that term loosely are capable of teaching their kids this. My parents have never been rich, or even comfortable, but they understood that they needed to teach us the basics. Like how to balance a check book, keep a roof above our heads, how to shop, etc. Simple things, but if you have never seen them done or been taught them it's a real problem and barrier.

In my workshop... we cover VICTORY....as an achronim (sp?- LOL!)

V= Values- gotta LIVE by your values......is there a such thing as right or wrong values? ( I let them discuss this... and you would LOVE my answer! eeevil grin!)

I= Integirty- Integrity is not who you are in the dark- that is character... integrity is knowing right from wrong- but standing up for what is right, even if it means standing alone!

C= Courage- you must have the courage to stand by your values and exercise integrity, even when it hurts!

T= Tennacity- Tennacity is staying strong... real change hurts....stick with it... then suddenly- BAMB- it feels good....

O= Obstacles- Obstacles are nothing more than an OPPORTUNITY to be Creative.... HA!!!!

R= Relationships- sometimes we have to change our playmates..some people are more comfortable with us failing, may even be jealous of us achieving! Surround yourslef with people who support and encourage... distance those that discourage and tear down...

Y- YOU! If YOU don't SEE IT, and DO IT.. NO ONE ELSE WILL!!

I really like your seminar concept. Victimization is a state of mind and can, therefore, be changed. No need for it to be a lifestyle. Stuff happens, but why we are so willing to cede ourselves over to the bad things in life I will never understand.

In fact, I know a few people that need to attend. I'll go ping them. Ha! ; ).

I like it. It seems so simple to those who had this growing up. So obvious, but it's not obvious to so many. They used to say not a hand out but a hand up. That's what you are doing. Good for you and God Bless you!

I was talking about Eevil and here Nite of Hope not the parents. WE, society, need to step to the plate. Booker T Washington preached it. We lost it. We need to go back to the roots.

Often so many people just don't connect the dots to behavior and outcome....

Brilliant. I see you are on to the REAL secret. Self reliance. Too many people looking for someone to "Rescue them" Same here on Freeper see it in the Whine all the Time crowd "Oh Why doesn't Bush/GOP/Senate etc do this, do that etc.

I have heard how kids like to be locked up in Juvenile Detention, because at least there no one will beat them, molest them and they will get fed. I am going to sound like a liberal here. But what does that say about us as a society?
