IMMIGRATION POLITICS: MARCHING MADNESS (pro-aliens deranged conduct hurting cause)
NY POST ^ | April 11, 2006 | JOHN PODHERETZ

Posted on 04/11/2006 4:46:47 AM PDT by Liz

........the idea that something has to be done about illegal immigration is in part due to politically deranged conduct on the part of those who claim to be working on behalf of illegal aliens. The demonstrations that have drawn hundreds of thousands to the streets in cities across the country in the past few days - are politically incomprehensible.

If their purpose is to influence the political debate in a direction favorable to the interests of illegal aliens, then their organizers are deluded.

The rapidly rising concern about the issue is a clear indication that the first round of demonstrations a few weeks ago, featuring Mexican flags dominating American flags and wild talk about American imperialism, were self-defeating......they are still in violation of the laws of the United States. The more people demonstrate on their behalf, the more the illegality of their actions is highlighted.

Americans are a law-abiding people, and they don't go for that sort of thing.

The demonstrations are the best advertisements possible for the idea that America must get tough on illegal immigrants and tighten its immigration policies.

That's what's so peculiar about these demonstrations. There is no chance on earth that Congress is going to adopt a wildly liberal set of policies on illegal immigration......immigration interest groups and others seem intent on radicalizing the debate, in making it clear to many people.....that the pro-immigrant side is nuts and the anti-immigrant side is more sensible.

Which is why the demonstrations make no sense from a sheerly partisan standpoint either. If they're designed to help the Democratic Party in its pursuit of majority status in the House and Senate in November 2006, then their organizers are profoundly stupid.............

No matter how you slice it, these demonstrations were and are a horrible mistake.

people you have to understand.

Our politicians aren't going to do anything but pander to the illegals. A politician with a spine cannot lead the spinless. When Americans grow a spine, and demand the elected do what is necessary, then something will be done. Until then, nothing will happen, except a pushing and shoving match to press this nation into granting citizenship and our tax dollars to the illegals. Come see me in ten years after the current illegal wave is legal, and there are 40 million more illegals demonstrating in the streets. We are losing the WOT people, because we refuse to make ourselves and our politicians grow a spine.

It isn't a matter of being pro- or anti- immigrant. It's a matter of being anti-illegals. Even Podhoretz slouches into this imprecise language that smears the fundamental point.

While you are certainly correct, overall this is a very important article, IMO.

The bottom line point is that these demonstrations are helping us, not them.

We have had the initiative on this issue for a long time. They, through these marches, have tried to take that impetus back. Again, IMO, they have failed.

This is NOT the time for us to be reacting to them. This is the time for us to redouble our political efforts.

In any war, the army that gains and keeps the initiative always wins.

If you're reacting, you're losing.

Since I run my own business and have a family to support I cannot drop everything and march like the illegal aliens and others are able to, however I can fly my Anerican flag at home and have joined the freedom alliance and Oliver North in their "I am mad as hell and am not gonna take it anymore" movement, waiting for the bumper sticker.

I tried watching some of the speeches in D.C. on CSpan yesterday. Only problem was, most of them were speaking Spanish.

It's a shame too, if they wanted to influence our government. I am a born, registered to vote, American. I might have been moved and contacted my elected officials to work on their behalf if I had of known what they were saying :)

However, the ones there that could understand what was being said are not legal citizens and can't vote: supposedly.

I didn't see a whole lot of effort at assimilation, so I'm not too keen to support them :)

No question, the deciding factor in killing the Senate amnesty bill were Americans, disgusted at vote-hungry US politicians, all puckered up, ready to assume the Hyphenate-Fellate position for political gain.

Exactly.... Hopefully, the Easter Bunny will bring each of the GOP pols a new spine, replacing their wet noodle ones.

I know this is wishful thinking but, maybe this 2 week vacation will allow time for the voters to pound their representatives on this issue. If not, We'll know we're in an up-hill battle. This mob mentality can not rule the day!

Good for you! No bumper stickers for my car, I'm sad to say. I had a W sticker on mine for the last election and some damn liberal wack-o kicked in the door of my Tahoe. Good luck to you with yours.

......who exactly funded those rallies with speakers like Ted Kennedy and Hellary Clinton....

Very good question. Here's what to do:

(A) Donors claiming tax exemptions for donations to these organizing groups may have been compromised by the blatant advocacy and encouragement to aliens to violate state and federal laws, and enaging in political activity prohibited by their tax status.

(B) Officers of publicy-held companies who are alien employers and sponsors, may be implicated in prohibited activity, and may have used fraudulent accounting methods to disguise donations to these alien advocacy groups in violation of The Sarbanes-Oxley Act. The SEC might want to know about this. EMAIL enforcement@SEC.gov

(C)The alien advocay groups may have also violated FEC laws.

(D) According to the IRS, these self-designated non-profits and foundations are being used to run just about every kind of fraudulent accounting scheme. Legal fees, a line item in most non-profit accounting reports, are well-used money laundering schemes that evade US taxes and use fraudulent accounting techniques to violate US banking and SEC laws.

As part of the Tax Exempt Compensation Enforcement Project, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced August 2004 that it intends to examine non-profit organizations (NPO), to learn more about the practices nonprofits follow as they fill out Form 990, the main public disclosure documents for charities and universities, and whether accounting fraud and tax evasion is taking place, and whether the compensation of specific individuals is excessive and, and whether instances of questionable compensation practices may evade IRS, banking and SEC laws, etc.

(E) Contact your nearest IRS office.

Agree completely. Podhoretz's imprecise use of the language plays into the hands of the Dems, i.e., the GOP is the anti-immigrant party. With 11.2% of the American population foreign born, it is the wrong message to be sending.

'...these demonstrations were and are a horrible mistake.'

I don't think immigrant legality will make any difference to the Reps or Dems. Political gain is the only motive. It seems like we have a govt of no consequence. They, congress, will do what they want when they want to.
