Hopefully electability doesn't mean watering down conservatism to appeal to a broader spectrum of voters.

Conservatism won't win without the help of the Republican party. The GOP, be as it may, is probably the closest thing to actually give a boost to the conservative movement. You will find it in third parties, but name a candidate in Washington that belongs to a third party.

Don't bother looking for conservatives in the democrat party, none exist.

It's perhaps just a pendantic point, but you have to start with conservative principles, then get republicans (or the occasional democrat) to fit those. Otherwise, you end up with a party of lobbyists and hacks who mouth an occasional conservative platitude.
