Great article! You can always tell when you're talking to someone who only gets their information from MSM headlines.

The lies go back to the press' love affair with Stalin and the USSR during the 1930's and its hatred of McCarthy in the fifties. Then there were the daily lies about Tet in 1968. It's been a lot longer than thirty years.

I know what you mean, when betrayed by the very party you voted for and believed in and have defended turns on you, it's hard to continue to defend them yet difficult to not continue defending them. A da*n if you do and da*n if you don't.

Excellent post.

For some time I have thought John McCain was being extorted by the left using information from the North Vietnamese about his conduct as a POW. As you noted, he partnered with Russ Feingold to gut our free speech on political matters, the only free speech actually guaranteed by the 1st Amendment, and now with another staunch leftist, Ted Kennedy, to further erode our freedom as an independent country.

November will tell us just how ignorant the public is today and at the moment, it doesn’t look good for the collective American IQ…

The American public ignorant? I just heard that the number one Internet scam that took in the most $$ is the Nigerian email scam. Duh!

It is precisely moments like this when you need your base. These attacks are basically irrelevant and the pols know it. It is just a bunch of mud slinging at the President and the party by association. The press is having a field day going to town and making a big deal out of nothing. The problem is that Bush is getting crickets from the base. What would he expect?

Thanks.

McCain is poison. There is nothing I can say about the guy so low that it isn't accurate.

I hope and pray we get Allen, Rice, or somebody else out there to run against Hillery.

McCain and Giuliani are a nightmare team and Red State voters like me will stay home in droves rather than vote for either of these two losers.

I do believe that we have a bunch of ignorants in this country but I can't say I blame them...because sometimes I feel like just turning off the news, internet etc and stop keeping up with politics , national and world affairs because its enough corruption to drive someone insane.

But basically I believe that Most Americans are smart and savvy but just arent' being represented in the government at all! I believe most americans know enough to take the news with a grain of salt. I believe that americans know exactly who is the biggest threat to their way of life and it isn't iraq, its their own government!

The best strategy is to not stay home during the primaries. I don't mean just on election day but by working hard for Allen or whomever prior.

At this stage I prefer Allen. If the choice is Hillary or McCain, staying home will have little consequence. The aftermath, however, will. We must then be ready to try and rescue our country rather than just accept what they dish out.

"I do believe that we have a bunch of ignorants in this country but I can't say I blame them...because sometimes I feel like just turning off the news, internet etc and stop keeping up with politics , national and world affairs because its enough corruption to drive someone insane. "

And THAT is EXACTLY what they want you to do.

"But basically I believe that Most Americans are smart and savvy .."

Listen to "Jeopardy" when they have high school or college kids on. Listen to radio talk show when they interview the average guy on the street.

There are Americans today who are better educated, more knowledgable and better read about current events and history than ever before - the information is at their finger tips on the internet and countless books. But unfortunately they represent the minority. Most Americans get their news data in bites from the headlines and would rather watch the Superbowl or World Series or some fluffy woman's series on TV.

Ask the average kid today about Magna Carta, when the Declaration of Independence was signed, what the Second Inaugural Speech or War of 1812 was about. Don't even THINK about asking them about the Glorious Revolution, the Battle of the Boyne, the Marne or Gaugamela.

"..but just arent' being represented in the government at all!"

A people gets the government they deserve.

"I believe that americans know exactly who is the biggest threat to their way of life and it isn't iraq, its their own government!"

Our government IS a threat, but nothing compared with the specter of international Islam.

But what about average Americans? Are they really as stupid as Democrats and their buddies in the press believe? I didn’t think so once, but yes, they are it seems… and that is the real problem.

....

I agree it goes back further.

Nixon is a good reference point for many because it may be the climax of their success...the removal of a US President.
