I'm thinking more like Border Patrol agents forced into more and more remote areas where hardly any border crossings took place before and then one dies accidentally there - not killed by a criminal - that would be tragic.
Die by what accidental means? Rattlesnake bite?
You know that these folks are trained for these things, don't you?
Plus, the MM most likely increase the safety of the BP agents with their mere presence; if the agent needs backup and can't call, they'll do it for him and assist.

I wasn't thinking snake bite - more like something else but directly attributable to patrolling more and more remote areas where there were no border crossings until the Minuteman Project went there last year. The law of unintended consequences grows exponentially in these types of volatile situations. For instance, didn't the Guardian Angels in NYC make things worse?
