Nearly 20,000 march in San Diego for immigrant rights ELLIOT SPAGAT Associated Press

SAN DIEGO - Thousands of demonstrators marched through the streets of the nation's largest city on the Mexican border Sunday, demanding Congress abandon an effort to crack down on an estimated 11 million people living in the United States illegally.

Nearly 20,000 people gathered at Balboa Park - home to the San Diego Zoo and a slew of museums - before heading to the heart of downtown and a county administration building, police said. No arrests were reported.

Many of the demonstrators wore white and carried signs that read "We are Americans!" and "We march today, we vote tomorrow." A large number of Mexican and American flags were part of the protest, which followed two weeks of careful planning that included an effort to encourage participants to wave American flags.

"The more American flags, the better this is going to be," said Ben Monterroso, an organizer with Service Employees International Union Local 1877.

Migrant advocates have expressed concerns that throngs of people waving Mexican flags might spark a backlash. Organizers of Sunday's event scrambled to find as many American flags as they could to distribute to marchers.

They were absolutely correct ~ waving those Mex'can flags sparks a backlash every single time.

Those toady-like US Senators ready to kow-tow to the Latin mobsters are back home for Easter Recess getting the news from the constituents.

Interesting that an area with over a million illegals could only turn out 20,000 of them for this demonstration.

Maybe the other 980,000 of them didn't want to be associated with the handful of American flags out there.

I said this could be a rough bunch.

Yeah, they should wait until our elected officials have completely abandoned us with this amnesty program and then they should whip out their Mexican flags and Che t-shirts when they enter the voting both to vote for the politicians who betrayed middle America.

...demanding Congress abandon an effort to crack down on an estimated 11 million people living in the United States illegally.

Illegals making demands on our congress. You can bet many of them are already registered voting RATS.

I was downtown around 1pm -3pm. As I drove by (couldn't stay and join but had to support by waving my flag out the window and yelling "Thank you" to the anti illegal immigration protestors) I noticed only Mexican flags for "their" side. Our side had all the American flags.

These marchers don't want to become part of our country. Even when told to carry the American flag, they don't do it! Send them home already!

It's a start.

Now let's get everyone assimilating - and CONTROL THE BORDER.

How many amnesty plans have now been scammed past the American public, on the pretense of being accompanied by "real control of the border this time".

How many times will we go along with the bait and switch?

Assimilate the new Americans - but SHUT THE DOOR.

We all need to learn more about each other for a while, before we decide about future immigration policies, in a calm, and HONEST DISCUSSION of actual laws and actual policies.

No more baloney.

If this Aztlan movement results in Christianity being outlawed in favor of worshipping Montezuma, then I guess I would be a criminal in such an Aztec theocracy and burned at the stake.

SENATORS ----- TAKE A PEAK AT THOSE YOU ARE DEFENDING!

And then remember who voted you in office. WE are Americans and they're clearly not.
