You might not know this, but there are at least 70 million in Mexico who would come here in a heartbeat if the immigration rules were relaxed. Thats in addition to the 20 or 30 million who are here. If you add it up, 100 million mexican nationals could very significantly influence our elected officials. Our country would go from a population of 300 million to 400 million in an instant.
Somebody better start planning some infrastructure. Building roads, houses, fire departments, power substations, communications, schools, and such. I see a way to make a bunch of money off of a mass influx of people. Oh, wait a minute. These are not Irish, German, or Italian people with no money. These are Mexicans and central Americans with no money. Nevermind. Scrape up a colonia, put a democrat in charge, and send the sick and dead ones back to Mexico. Great plan there.
