Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's re-appointment of a political rival to the state Board of Education didn't buy him much love in the enemy camp.
On Wednesday, the governor gave another term on the board to Joe Nunez, a longtime teachers' union activist and chair of the organization that battled Schwarzenegger in last year's special election.
On Thursday, Nunez, in his role as the Alliance for a Better California board chair, filed a five-page complaint with the Fair Political Practices Commission against Schwarzenegger and the governor's old campaign vehicle, the California Recovery Team.
It demanded that the FPPC investigate and file a civil suit against Schwarzenegger and the governor's California Recovery Team over what the Alliance charged were "blatant violations" of the Political Reform Act.

The Alliance had filed suit in Sacramento Superior Court in October, charging that the Schwarzenegger-controlled committee failed to adequately report its spending on behalf of a redistricting initiative.
A 53-year-old Stockton resident, Nunez, has been a member of the State Board of Education since 2001, when he was appointed by former Gov. Gray Davis. A 19-year teacher in Santa Maria, Nunez moved to Stockton in 1994 to take a post with the local teachers union before advancing in 2004 into the upper ranks of the California Teachers Association hierarchy.
For the past two years, the Democrat has served as the union's associate executive director of governmental affairs, a position that in effect made Nunez the organization's chief legislative and political operative, according to CTA President Barbara Kerr.
The union last year became the key financier and organizer in the Alliance for a Better California, which led the opposition to Schwarzenegger as the governor campaigned on behalf of four initiatives that he claimed were crucial to overhauling state government.

Some days I think I've fallen into some sort of alternate reality, where all the rules are inverted. Whatever tactics Schwarzenegger is using, they must have been invented in the Bizarro Universe.
"We're very pleased," Kerr said. "He's a very talented board member and he's proven that to everyone. In terms of education policy, he's a real expert and he's proven that to a number of the governor's advisors, and I think they wanted him around."
I hate to say it, but I'm beginning to come to the conclusion that Arnie must have an IQ of about 60. He's not just a leftist, he's a stupid leftist.
What he lacks in IQ he makes up in ego. ;-)
The only logical solution is to move to Vegas. You've not lived until you've been able to be represented by a GOP member from city council all the way to the White House. And you probably deserve the tax break since you are actually funding these mexican protests in LA with your tax dollars regardless of where you live in CA.
There we disagree. Arnold needs constant adulation because he knows he's a fake, a cardboard cutout impersonating a leader, mouthing his lines like he always has. It started with the way daddy dissed him.
That need is what drives him now, pushing this fantasy that he is a "governor for the little people," and knowing that he hasn't got the background to have a clue about public policy beyond a few feel-good truisms.
