Good for you. I don't quite understand your question to Bob Beauprez, i.e., what the heck he and other US Representatives thought they were doing in not supporting President Bush better?

What were you referring to?

Labor rates would have to be $40.00 per hour before we would be paying $5.00 for a head of lettuce. It all depends on what the "supply" of lettuce is not so much on the price of labor to pick it.

And your source for this fact is? Sorry but the Immigration Reform side cannot have it both ways. Either they are working for mush less thus cutting Americans out of jobs and depressing wages or they lower labor costs are not much of an impact on the cost of goods which means they don't impact the market much. Cannot have it both ways.

I got hammered a bit last week(on here) by a produce executive who told me that most of the price of lettuce has to do with middle men and retailer markups. The grower gets very little of the price regardless of what it is. Labor is less than 10 cents per head.

Good points (1099), and yet another reason for serious enforcement efforts. It seems some of the larger cities (Houston, NY, LA) have already become their own autonomous banana republics. NY's threat to (officially) grant suffrage to non-citizens is nasty business. The good that Giuliani did could be unwound very quickly.

Excellent point here OldFriend.

If I had to guess the future for the next few years it would be locals doing the jobs of the feds who for one reason or another will simply not be there when needed(as it is now) by local law enforcement.

\ The two week course that allows locals to deal with illegals in some states will be the rule of the day rather than the exception.

President Bush has been under a constant attack for years. The Democrats have been especially hateful over the past few months and there has been little effective defense by House or Senate Republicans. Claims of Republican corruption and incompetence should have been defended and these bogus proposals of censure or impeachment should not have been ignored, as they have been for the most part.

Republicans have a tendency to give Democrats a pass on unethical and illegal behavior. Unless there's an uproar from the citizens or press, our side fails to stand up for each other well. Because we have not attacked Democrats when we were clearly able to do so has made them believe they can roll over us and say or do anything they want without any reprisals. I'm sick and tired of it. We need to put the Democrats on defense and keep them there for a few years.

Guiliani's good is being undermined in many ways already.

The street crimes are creeping upward.

And the raising of the property taxes has driven many out. Sadly they have come to NJ with their liberal mindset.
