The solution to the whole Mexican immigration is simple: Annex Mexico and break it into a set of new American states.
First, toss the failed Mexican government and have them elect representatives to Congress. Replace the peso with the dollar, require their industry to follow US regulatory standards for safety and environmental impact. Issue social security numbers and let them pay income taxes like the rest of us. We keep talking about not having enough people to save Social Security during the baby boomers' retirement. Would adding several million taxpayers help?
Everyone keeps talking about disincetivizing illegal immigration. That would pretty much take care of illegal immigration and the problem with social security as well.
I think there would also be an impact on abortion rights also. Everyone worries that latinos would automatically vote Democratic, but I think their traditional Catholic roots would make abortion abhorrent to most of them. It would be an opportunity to swing the Democrat party from the radical left's control to policies that are less abhorrent to most conservatives.
To solve a host of problems, regime change is necessary in Mexico. Why not replace the current regime with our own?
No need for breakup - Mexico is already a federal state.
