History has proved this wrong time after time. "Leaders" have made many mistakes for which their citizens pay dearly. And of course, government is the people. WE make mistakes. We made a mistake not taking Al Quida & mid-east troublemakers seriously. Hopefully we learned that a huge nation & military is not required to hurt us.

WE made mistakes importing people as slaves. WE have made mistakes in national security, education, economics, interpretation of laws... you name it, we muck it up.

Bad things are not "dealt with" on a regulary basis... Unfortunately there is no such thing as the "safety" & "protection" you imply in your statement.
