Bunker busters are fine, but it doesn't guarantee that you'll kill the scientists and workers (some of them, not ALL of them). In order to stop production, you have to kill the brain (scientists and workers), not the body (the hardened targets themselves). FAE's (F uel A ir E xplosives) will do just that, with the power and kill zone of a nuclear weapon without the radiation. We do have the technology to pinpoint their locations, and eradicate them all. Then go in with conventional weapons (standard bombs) and reduce the reactors to ashes. Notice I said reactorS, if you think they have only one., then you are sadly mistaken. Nuclear weapons do not kill, the people with the brains to create, produce, and employ the weapons do. Instead of spending potentially millions of dollars on a BRAND NEW bomb, use the ones we already have stockpiled (I.E.- FAE's and conventional bombs)

We also have E-Bombs that can be used to devastate the electrical infrastucture over a particular area. And although some might think that Iran has "hardened" their electrical infrastructure in critical areas (as the US military has), I now that they have not done enough. A few well placed E-bombs thrown in with the others will ruin their whole day (and maybe a century..).

Even if you chop the head off a rattlesnake, they are still dangerous. The fangs still carry venom which will put you in the hospital. The rest is okay if cooked properly!Makes great chili!

Nobody seems interested in the HOT ROD idea, why? This Bunker Busting Missile concept is a magnesium/oxidizer mix, it burns a vertical hole down, down, down to the deep bunker like an arc welder's cutting rod; rather than crudely(and stupidly)blasting a whole crater of dirt out of the way. The HOT ROD takes out the DEEP bunker with a minimum of surface damage and 5000 deg F hot tip. But our military doesn't listen to advanced ideas like this, "military intelligence" is an oxymoron, yes? But perhaps others will take note of this idea...

The nukes aren't the problem nor are the folks who design and manufacture them. The problem is the folks in command and control of the nukes. We may not think much of Chirac, but so long as he or someone similar runs France we don't worry about them nuking us. The problem is the mad mullahs, and those who think like them in the official government, are crazy enough to be willing to lose a nuclear war. Any sane person knows they cannot win one. Most of these folks aren't in hardened targets, but there are a lot of them and I don't know whether enough could be taken out at once to make a difference. Taking out the nukes is at most a temporizing measure, buying time for someone (hopefully the fed up Iranians) to take out the mullahs. Planning for the latter must be the long term goal; but doing the former may be necessary to keep the latter possible.
