WASHINGTON The Senate sidetracked sweeping immigration legislation Friday, leaving in doubt prospects for passing a bill offering the hope of citizenship to millions of men, women and children living in the United States illegally.

I'm so glad we have you to tell us what's going to happen! Do you also read palms?? I'm just kidding. But, seriously, even if the politics suggest there will not be a bill, we need to continue to put pressure on them to do WHAT WE WANT DONE!
susie
I believe you called it several days ago.
Congrats
If you notice, the Republicans united to pass this thing.

Oh, we noticed and the list of RINO names is growing. We thought there was the remote possibility of something meaningful with Frist's ORIGINAL proposal that had some serious teeth in it. Forget it -- I think Bush got to him. Even at that, there was NO DISCUSSION OR MENTION of what would be done to really CLOSE THE BORDER --- TV cameras, more guards, what a bunch of subterfuge for saying "we are leaving the border open" so MORE ILLEGALS can just keep coming into the USA. Yes, all of it flies in the face of the will of the people (REAL Americans).
If this travesty upon America does not wake up America to what our government in Washington is all about, then God help America, because the complacent, stupid people will not. Washington continues to work hard to give away OUR COUNTRY for the sake of shovelling sand over their malfeasance, incompetence, carelessness, elitism, and their TOTAL disregard for the will of the people.
I can be persuaded, with the right beer bribe.
We don't need another law! We need to enforce the laws we have now!
Derailing this amnesty and citizenship grant to lawbreakers is the best thing that could feasibly happen right now. Let the congress critters go back home and talk to their constituents and see what the average American REALLY thinks about leapfrogging these invaders to the front of the line for citizenship.
My guess is an enforcement only component will get passed in the next month and nothing will be done before the November elections. This issue looks like poison to the RINOs in the Senate.
Owl_Eagle(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
Just secure the southern border with armed guards so as not to compound the problem and allow anymore of them in.
Don't pass legislation that smacks of amnesty or "guest" worker program. Get tough on these defiant, disrespectful bunch of mexican flag waving demonstrators. Arrest them on the streets while they are demonstrating make an example of them for the rest of mexico to see make them pay back taxes!!
You are right more often than you are wrong (and you are rarely wrong).
BTW, last night's post:

You would catch more flies...err, FReepers....with a bit of honey in the vinegar.
I know, I just don't know how to be nice. Its a real problem.

Thanks.
I've made a number of predictions that I've gotten wrong, but this one was EASY. That group of jokers in the Senate is interested in one thing and one thing only: THEIR JOBS.
Only those at risk are willing to listen to you, and those folks are not in the Senate, but in the House.
Until after November, you will see nothing but proposals and finger-pointing. All both sides want is a chance to blame the other for getting nothing done. Frist doesn't care, neither does McCain. They don't even begin to care until after the November elections, where their votes will then be for sale to the highest bidder.
"I can be persuaded, with the right beer bribe."
I'll send you a case of Tecate! :)
But who will help these poor immagrants?
Yes! Now we need to keep pounding them.....ENFORCEMENT! ENFORCEMENT! ENFORCEMENT!
Well, that's the Presidents job and he just isn't gonna do it.
Both Senators from NC voted "Ney". They didn't seem too united with the amnesty compromise/surrender "deals".
