Being in the country without documentation is currently a CIVIL offense - like a parking ticket - which is why I opposed HR 4437 making that a felony.

When you get enough parking tickets a warrant is issued for your arrest right clawrence?

Current law affords deportation and you cannot wiggle your way out of it.

You refuse deportation then you refuse the law as it is today.

>And yeah you wish to make - insert - Illegal - charity work by Churches a criminal offense.

Damn right meathead!

Just like we did with Islamic "charities" right here, and right now, sending money and providing aid to promote illegal activities here and in other countries from impacting us right here.

Of course that didn't frost your ovaries, because you don't have a dog in that fight.

You know bill, I really think that is just beyond some people's capability of understanding. Folks on the side of appeasement will never address the point you made because they simply pretend it doesn't exist or that somehow there is a difference between what they are saying and what you just said.

Uh get back to me when the Catholic church or Evangelical churches promote homicide bombers, but I forgot a vegetable picker to you=homicide bomber, silly me.

Dane, how many vegetable pickers are there in Illinois? You know the state FOURTH on the list of illegal population?

At least it is not a blanket amnesty like Carter gave to draft dodgers.

Not at all - I accept any current law being enforced under due process requirements - I do not "reject" current law. I am simply advocating changing that law.

You do reject the current law because you refuse to admit that these folks are ILLEGAL and the goal you advocate for a change in law would see criminals be rewarded instead of punished.

Nothing will be done about illegal immigration UNTIL illegals start running for political office.

Illegals can work for low paying jobs because they do not have to pay for housing, health care, food, education, energy, etc. like legal citizens have to. Legal citizens cannot afford to live on the low wages offered to illegals, and thus cannot work the jobs that illegals do. Add up the average cost of living in the US, and compare this to what the average illegal makes.

BTW, how many countries offer free services to illegal Americans?

Let's hope this version dies a painful and excruciating death in the Senate: NO AMNESTY, Senators!

The fact that these votes take as long as they do underscores the basic reason why nothing ever gets accomplished in the Senate. I mean how long does it realistically take for 100 people to say yes or no???

This is what happens when neither side wants to vote AYE, but neither want's to be on record as voting NAY. It's all about creating plausible deniability. Kabuki theater, Washington DC style.

100% secure is impossible, even with an Israel-type wall.

At this point, 20% secure would be a distinct improvement.

Here's my "best way" to reduce terrorist attacks - kill them over there before they get here. As a back up, make sure anyone identified as a possible terrorist NEVER makes it through a LEGAL point of entry. After you do all that, then we can talk about a wall.

Kill the terrorists wherever they are. Disrupt their communications and finances. Crush the nations that shelter and aide them. Plus, build a security wall with entry ports through which LEGAL immigrants may pass. Guard all other ports of entry. Fine the crap out of businesses that hire illegal immigrants. This would be a good start.

I was right with you up until the "Plus" part - we might as well dismantle the Statue of Liberty too : (

We have caught MILLIONS of illegal aliens since Bush took office - 3200 died in the desert trying to cross - I think 20% may be a little low. On another thread, I agreed with 33% - whatever it is, we can improve on it short of another Berlin Wall.

Oh, hey, we would'nt have to dismantle the old girl. We have PLENTY of other wall building materials around to do the job. But I wouldn't mind moving it down to the Southern border. Would make a great lookout tower, and could also house 50 cal machine gun batteries. That would put some punch in ensuring our liberty.
